Gingham Cross
Well, mine is more of a calm check than cheerful. Haha. I seem to be in that mode. Last week I placed 966, out of 1309 entries. Thanks so much for voting! This check is getting lots of “favorites”. It’s nice to know it has appeal, and is not… bland. Votes are welcome.
Next week’s challenge design is going to be bright and bold. The theme is 1970’s throw pillows. Haha! Yikes. Avocado, harvest gold, burnt orange. Yeah, we need to bring those back.
This design was a learning experience. Woo Whoo! Love learning! I have made checks before, the hard way. This is quick, and it will be so easy to switch colors, and create a whole collection. What colors would you like to see? Christmas? Red, white and blue? Pretty pastels?
For The Birds, Yucca, Yucca, Yucca
A few days ago, the yucca was bombarded by the birds. Breakfast in the desert. I took lots of photos thinking, that may never happen again. Later that afternoon, they were back. And they brought buddies. I counted nine birds on one stalk! Yes, I took more photos. I even caught a couple beneath my window, and one was a chatty Cathy. Click any photo for a slideshow view.

Grant Hutchison, The Complete Lachlan
A bird does not sing because it has an answer,
it sings because it has a song.

As soon as I read your question I went rifling through all the colours in my head. Red and white for my Mom, Green for my bestie, turquoise for my other bestie, black and white for me …. then it came to me that I’ve never seen white gingham. Tough I know, but varying translucencies like damask would look amazing and probably be super popular. As for 70’s geometrics were star. I clearly remember my Moms kitchen wallpaper of large circles with concentric geometric patterns in orange, white and pale green. It would probably be worth a fortune if I still had a roll.
Wow, awesome Sea, thanks for thinking about it. I made notes, and will work on them. 🙂
So many options, I might not be able to stop once I start. LOL. I plan on doing some that will work with my older designs as well.
Thanks for the 70’s info! I remember the bold florals. Yellow, orange and browns. And greens. I like the geometric idea. 🙂
Yeah, I bet it would would be worth a lot. Haha 🙂 Happy creating Sea!
I voted for your design! And thank you for the bird bonanza!
Thank you Dotty! 🙂 So glad you enjoyed it too 🙂
I tried to keep the selection small. Haha. 🙂
I am glad that you always show your designs the way someone might use them. It gives real perspective in a way that the sample doesn’t. I always find it hard to believe that so many designs get entered in these contests (and how bad some of them are – lol). Glad you had a treat with the birds visiting.
It was a treat Val. Nothing like the great outdoors that is your backyard. LOl. 🙂
When I first started on SPoonflower, there was under 400 entries. They have exploded. 🙂
I just have an issue with folks that don’t follow the rules. They enter flowers or birds or
something that is not a check. Flowers with a check, yes, but not a design that is checkless. Haha.
And the ones that hurt your eyes… I wonder if those designs ever sell. I’m sure they do. Haha.
Congrats on the high number of votes for the design! My goodness, it will work well in any number of colors. Hutchison’s quote on birds is so perfect. Their songs bring such joy to our world. You’ve had some great visitors passing through. I imagine they are looking for a respite from the heat. Stay well and cool, Sheila!
It was one of the first I found, and it said exactly what I was thinking. There I was watching, (inside my room) and they were oblivious. THey wre happy in the sun, eating and chatting. And I was happy watching them. LOL. 🙂
I hope you are feeling much better Laurelle. And pray you stay well. Y tu familia. 🙂
