When I started painting today, this was my leftovers. Trying to use instead of lose paint. The card I was focused on, took a turn for the worse. Or suddenly this looked better.

I was trying to go “Flora” (Bowly), spreading paint with my fingers. Also palette knives and brushes. A little pen, a bit of watercolor. Q-tips.

I had no intentions. At first the white seemed to suggest two forms. A conversation maybe. Adding paint, that image dissipated. I wanted to work quick and loose. It’s Downton night don’t ya’ know! (Typed with an Irish accent that. The Quiet Man is on.)

Here is a cute video for all those born in January, today is my birthday and I am inviting you to a virtual party. This isn’t really “Happy Birthday” but it makes me giggle. So enthusiastic. Get your jam on!

Still cold, but they say it will warm up to the 70’s today. Right now it is 37 degrees. Still snow on the ground, and “yuck” in the house.  We postponed my birthday dinner until we are all presentable. Wishing good health to all!

Still snow on the ground, just a bit (5 days later), and still CoLd!

This is the last of this series.  Maybe I will do a series of series. I am so in awe of the artists who started this challenge with a theme in mind. I always think of something great, after the fact. Like Halloween costumes, or painting titles. Perhaps at the end of the month, I will look back and find, that I really did have a theme all along! It could happen, right?

YAY! Is anyone else excited that today is the first day of Downton Abbey in the U.S.A.! Everyone in this house is going to be glued to the tube tonight.  Including my Dad, believe it or not.

Happy Sun Day Four to all the participants. And happy Sunday to all.

A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower. ~  Marianne Williamson

Work in Progress

  1. Beginning
  2. Too Dark!
  3. Ring around the collar, I mean clouds.
  4. Calling it done.

Just noticed the images are a bit rough, 72 ppi is why. This came together fairly quickly. I did have to go back and fix some mistakes. I have been working  on watercolor paper that has a layer of gesso. Bad paintings making way for new ones. I like working on the gesso with watercolors. Gives you a bit of freedom to rework, almost erase paint you have laid down. That is a new discovery for me.

I am working with an inexpensive set of student pan watercolors, and I notice that they do not mix as easily as tube paint. I expected that, and part of it may be the gesso. Still, they are fun!!
