L.Y.A. Postcard #1

Yay! Postcard art in my mailbox! This card traveled to Oregon and made a round trip back to Arizona. Phoenix is an hour and half down the hill. Deanie and have swapped before, and I am so excited to receive her card again this year.

This is a photo of the Love Locks in Paris France taken in 2016. Isn’t that a great thought?

On the back:

” I take in all the colorful locks that line the bridge. Each one told a story. Each lock represented a relationship that was once special, whether it ended or turned into true happiness. The locks represented a past, present and a possible future.”
Ashley Earley, Alone in Paris

Deanie added:

“I always want to know the story behind the lock!

I want to know the story as well.  Don’t you think it would make a great movie? The story behind the stories? Well guess what, Hallmark has one. Learn about the real Love Locks.

You can find more from Deanie on Instagram, @deanie213 and @focusonphoenix. Check them out!

Thanks Deanie! I love this card. It has me thinking of Paris, happy stories, and you!

Exploring Pouring

Poured paint on paper has a will of its own. Hoping for interesting, organic shapes. Instead I produced runs and drips. The details might be useful as part of a collage. Or maybe I can continue with more paint and marks. The colors  show as intense, but in person they are soft, warm and subtle.

We had rain last night, and clouds today. Made for interesting Mingus views.

I have been painting abstracts. I start out trying for loose and large (ish). Before I know what happened, everything is tiny and tight. Ugh!!  Today I thought I would go to one of my defaults, and try to salvage my bruised ego.

The resulting painting is not great. Not bad either. I am particularly happy with the sky, mostly because I thought I had botched it halfway through.  And there was joy in the creating! That is a win anytime! I will try again with the abstracts tomorrow.

Alicia Tormey posted inspiration yesterday. A perfect reminder at the perfect time. Never ceases to amaze me how the universe works. I had listened to the video clip, gosh, maybe two years ago. I was very glad of the reminder, thought you might appreciate it as well.

Do you see the face in the clouds?  Happy creating to you!
