I did it. Wrong! So laughing at myself, because I just now caught it. I was so into the creating, I was not reading. I meant it to read, One love. As in the U2 song. Aye-yi-yi. Oh well, no one will know if I don’t say anything. Shhhh. Still works.

This went back and forth. Scanned it five times, to see what it needed. I don’t usually do that. But for some reason, viewing it on the screen helped me see what was missing. I almost named it Chaos. Maybe I got to busy? But it certainly reflects the day I have had. And I find that interesting.

The end of week one. And I mentioned a giveaway didn’t I. Pretty simple. I am going to choose a day, and then a name from that days comments. Papers in a cup. 1-7, and then all the names from the chosen day. Make sense? It’s late so I might be typing gibberish. The chosen person, can choose from one of the three paintings shown in this post. I will be doing a giveaway each week this month.

Gratifying Gift Giving

Spent the week working on my Christmas list. Then two days in Phoenix celebrating early with friends from out-of-town. I finally worked up to courage to paint these pet portraits. I had planned on working in watercolor, but ultimately decided to use acrylics. I worked from photos. There was a lot of guessing on Tasha, most of her facial features were lost in solid black.

I am very pleased with how they turned out. Both recipients were very happy. Kyra, above, turned out better. I don’t feel I was as successful with Tasha. The pose was more difficult for me to convey. The noses know… they could have been better. Still, I think they work.

I experimented, and used watercolor on these next two canvases. I knew if it didn’t work, I could easily wipe them clean and start over. I wanted the colors to mix and mingle, and have that washy look. The deep sides really highlight the layers of transparent color. Unfortunately, I forgot to get photos of them.

When the background had dried, I used a spray sealer. Light coats, so the watercolor would not activate again. The words were applied in acrylic, outlined in pen, and sealed once more. They really look good in person. Shades of gorgeous indigo. And “Love” has the look of an old tapestry. A nice effect of the canvas texture!

Day 23 – 30 In 30

Counting this as done for today. But I think it needs… something. Any thoughts? I think it would make a nice gift card. There is room enough to add (digitally), “Thinking of you”, “You are…always on my mind” or “Happy Valentines”. It is really more red than pink in person, but pink works.

Another possibility for submission to “LOVE SAYINGS: wit & wisdom of romance, courtship, and marriage.”

I have 6 paintings started. Enough to get me to the end of the month. I have three others that are wipe outs. Yupo experiments gone wrong. But I had fun making a mess!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, and thanks to all who leave comments. I love hearing from you! More 30 In 30 goodness here.
