Caught up – 30 In 30

Day 4, 5, 6, and 7

So much for getting ahead. Maybe next time I will use 3 or 4 layers, instead of 158.  Just kidding. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go light, or dark for the final pieces.

This little series is based on the themes of love and the human condition. I am going to submit artwork to be published in Bradford G. Wheler’s book – LOVE SAYINGS: wit & wisdom of romance, courtship, and marriage.

For “LOVE SAYINGS” he is looking for original artwork and photography that in some way relates to love and the human condition. Artists who would like to be considered can sign up at bookcollaborative.com.

I have paintings in two of Brad’s earlier books. You can see them here, and here.

I haven’t decided on titles for these yet. Any ideas? Home is where the heart is, love on the rocks, heart of mine. Love grows (where my Rosemary goes). I always think in song or movie titles.

I will be painting more on this theme. But I think, it is time for some watercolor.

It’s too bad the copper does not show more in the photos, it looks great, just bits here and there that catch the light. Today was a good day! Six of my fabric designs sold today at Spoonflower! Woo Whoo!

Tons of amazing art to be seen!

Work In Progress, Day 4, 5…

I don’t know what I was thinking.

“I can whip these out in a couple of hours, they are so small”

These are 4 x 4 inches. I don’t have a result in mind, not trying for anything in particular, other than “pretty”. I am working on a small series to submit for publication. I’ll tell you all about that tomorrow, when I actually have something to show.

The sun was already down, so horrible lighting, but still a peek, and proof that I am painting.

Just building layers, texture, pattern. Years ago I did faux finishing, well I still do at times but not that ghastly marble that was all the rage. Might use some of those tricks here though.

I am known among my family and friends, for having this weird gift. They can bring me any piece of furniture, and I can tell them exactly what they need to do to match it.  Colors, technique, products, tools. Say they found an expensive night stand, and they want to DIY it on the cheap. In fact this month I will be painting a bathroom cabinet to match a shabby chic piece. I’ll show you when it is done!

I don’t feel right posting this to Leslie‘s blog, I think I will wait and post the finished pieces.

Happy creating everybody!

Day three, and thee

Thanks so much for visiting, and for commenting! Wanted to say that ahead of time, just in case. The deadline is breathing down my neck. And of course, the computer decided to act up. I kept getting the error message “scratch disk is full”. Which basically means that Photoshop is out-of-order and closed for repairs. Not a good thing.

I was up until 2:20 am. Trying to get a jump on the day by writing my post. My #3 assignment for Summer School is “somewhere in the middle” as Jonah (sleepless in Seattle) so confidently put it. Paint, scan, clean, add details, place, and post.

I painted more feathers than you see here. Watercolor washes are finicky. Several of my first attempts were not as intense, so I won’t be using them in the final design. They are good, but just don’t fit with these. I still need to add details, and I have the pattern worked out in my head. Here’s hoping it works on paper too.

I also completed this companion pattern with the feathers from yesterday’s post. I will make this available in my shops later this month
