Day 19 – 30 in 30

I have tried for a week, to get ahead. I stayed up later than I should have last night. Painting and playing with color. I am actually ahead a couple of days now. That has never happened before. I was so tempted to show you all the paintings today.

I really like this piece. So much so, that I am going to show it to you two ways. Let me know which is your favorite.

This is how I painted it, using gravity as a tool.

I left it to dry upside down, when I came back to it, this is what I saw.

I was trying for more of those little “explosions”. When that didn’t work, I added more blue and let it work its way down.

I also went back and added more of a shadow to yesterdays heart. It is not showing as well in the scan. It shows as a thin line, but the color blends out into the surrounding area nicely.

Another painting on the love theme, a possible candidate for, “LOVE SAYINGS: wit & wisdom of romance, courtship, and marriage”. There are about six to eight layers of paint on this. All the detail, and the heart wrap around the sides. There is bronze paint running through the heart, it never scans well.  You can see it better in the photo below.

Bronze metallic paint catches the light.

I am thinking I need to add the word “Love” or “Joy” in the bottom left hand corner.  I’d love to hear your opinion.

Happy day to you, and happy painting! Be sure to check out todays galley here.

Day 17 – 30 In 30

This is a do over. Good practice though. I did The main trees and foreground with a palette knife. I don’t have much practice in with that. The distant tree trunks were with the knife as well, and then I brushed on the branches. My strokes are clumpy and heavy.

I started this just before 11 pm, and by 11:30 I was done. So Just under the wire. I intended to paint a flower, but the blank, bright yellow canvas was a little intimidating. It was so pretty just plain! This idea popped into my head, and I started by adding some bronze metallic paint with my fingers. I did the large trunks first.

I will paint over it and try again. I do like it. But I will try to do better.

Happy Day 18, and Happy Thursday!

~~~~~~~~~Update~~~~~~~~~~~
This is on its way to Colorado. My cousin told me it reminds her of a story she loves. I am a book lover too, so I could not resist gifting it to her.
