Pouring and Postcards

Previews of the pours I worked on today. Planned on doing only two in blue, but had enough paint to try a third. In this first pour, I did get some interesting cells. Microscopic, but they do look good in person.

Fingers crossed they survive the drying time. I used thicker paint this time, mixed with water and a few sprays of silicone (WD-40). I did not want huge cells, but I am guessing I could have made them larger by using more silicone. Perhaps the paint needs to be thinned more as well.

The experimenting is fun. I pour the paint from individual containers, and the “dirty pour” technique creates larger cells. I may try that next time. I used my heat gun to bring out the cells. Maybe could have done that longer. So many variables.

None of these from today resemble Angels. Still interesting, and I think I can make them work, with a slight change in focus. I will share them again after they have dried, and let you know what I come up with.

LYA SIDE SWAPS

Doesn’t this card from Nan Johnson make your mouth water?! Nan’s work is amazing. She does fantastic, detailed “home” portraits, beautiful landscapes, and wonderful pet portraits.

Gems, Kat van Rooyen, CZT.

My good friend Kat surprised me with her Gems. I received her card as an official LYA postcard. Didn’t think I would get another as a side swap. This LYA has been full of surprises! Kat is a Certified Zentangle Teacher. She tells me these look better in person, but I think they look pretty real on the card. Lots of depth in the colors! Thanks Kat for surprising me with your colorful, wonderful art!

I just love that the LYA art swap is still going strong!

L.Y.A. #2 And A Sunny Saguaro

This was my second attempt. I am happy with the result. Managed to loosen up. Also, I did not kill the light with too many layers. There are things I will do different the next time. Learned from this, so all is well.

The first painting was solid areas of flat color. My white pen gave out, so I switched to paint and a brush. Wasn’t liking it, so I stopped and set it aside. Today it does not look as bad to me, I plan on going back to finish that one.

L.Y.A. Postcard #2

I was late in posting card #1. I did not receive these back to back. This fun Zentangle art is from my good friend Kat van Rooyen. We have swapped for several years. Kat lives in Tazewell Virginia. In years past, she has shared her wonderful photos of the Appalachian Mountains.

Kat is a Certified Zentangle Teacher. Her classes are popular and she often gets requests to add more. She is inspiring. Health issues could have stopped her in her tracks. But she keeps on going!

Trees in downtown Prescott AZ. April 2016 Sheila Delgado

Spring in Prescott Arizona. SMD

Back from Arizona. And in the mail, my last two side swap postcards. (No Really, these are the last two.) The gorgeous flower photo below is from Teena Lurlene and came to me from Richmond Virginia. Teena says the photo is untouched by Photoshop. Hard to believe (but I do Teena) because the colors are so lovely! Hard to tell in my photo, but the leaves are a stunning shade of Princely purple. I had to smack my self to stop staring.

The image in the top corner shows how the card arrived, the top layer had been neatly rolled back. No worries, double-sided tape to the rescue. Good as new! Teena said she chose this card for me, because I love flowers. Thank you Teena, I sure do love this one!

Kat van Rooyen’s card is so fun. That swirl in the middle makes me hungry. Reminds me of a licorice rope. It was fun reading everyone’s take on the L.Y.A. Facebook page. I love these patterns, including the “zingers” on the top. They look like little bee hives. Kat included this on the back of her card:

Prescott, Arizona

The trees above surround the Yavapai County Courthouse, in the center of Downtown Prescott. I took the photo from the car, as we were sitting at a light. Looking up. The dark branches, the pale yellow-green leaves, the blue of the sky. Couldn’t resist.

The new house is moving right along. We go back at the end of May for the inspection. They have started to extend our street, so there will be lots of activity. Here is a peek at the view out my “studio” window. The homes across the street are set far apart. So for the most part, it will remain unobstructed. Knock on wood.
