This month has been very hectic for me. I just realized, that I labeled some of my posts on Instagram wrong. And I spaced posting a reminder about the giveaway this week. Geesh!

So the numbers for this drawing were Day #5 (of the week),  and the 7th comment.

Congratulations Christine Brooks!

Let me know which of these you would like!
Thanks everyone, for following along!

I am still intrigued by this sparse style. It feels familiar to me. Reminds me of some of Georgia O’Keeffe’s work. Not my painting. The style.

There are a couple of things I would change about this. I did not realize I was painting with gloss navy blue. Sealing the piece would take care of that. And I did not add any line work.  That might help. Or shading to show a rise on the front range.

There is both blue and turquoise in the sky, on this screen it is not showing at all unfortunately. Hope you can see it on yours. I think the sky came out rather nice.

Maybe it is a work in progress. Not unhappy with it. Taking a second look, those few details stand out. Fixable!

Is it really the 14th already?
Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Palette knife practice. With watercolor. Just to see what would happen. I mixed puddles of paint, and then dipped the knife. Observations:

  1. Mix thicker paint next time.
  2. Mix more paint. (Larger puddle).
  3. Don’t go back into a wet area.

OK, that last one was an accident. I thought the paint was dry. But I am not upset by the result, the yellow with the bloom. I have seen halos like that, in a misty seaside sunset.

And those are all things I knew. This little practice just reinforced them.  I used a long rectangular knife. It covered more area, and helped to blend the transitions.
