I thought about not posting this. I want to rework the flowers. I couldn’t decide about the flower heads, so I tried them two different ways. I am leaning towards the loose swirly ones. Right now it just looks like a big yellow, mess. I need to think about it a few days, and figure something else out.
I think the pot saves this from the trash pile. I really like how all of that texture showed up. That little purple spot on the right was a mistake. I wiped off some paint while it was still wet, But I liked it, so I left it in. The background was about three different colors. Well, three main colors. When it was a loss, I went ahead and tried a soft green. Guacamole gone bad. Yuck.
Then I saw a bottle of crackle paint, and thought what the heck. I have used the two-step crackle before for craft projects, but this was new to me. I forgot that if you apply a thicker layer you will get bigger cracks. Didn’t bother to read the instructions until after it had dried.
And just as I knew it would happen, the cracks were barely visible without adding a top coat in a contrasting color. You can do light over dark or dark over light, just as long as there is a contrast. I opted for indigo, of course. Hoped it would tie in with the pot. I just put a small amount of the indigo on a damp paper towel and rubbed it over the area.
I will probably wake up tomorrow and cringe at knowing I actually posted this. But there it is. I also painted another bookmark contender. And Sea, I used my water brush. I am going to save that for tomorrow. It is going to be a busy day, and I might not have time to paint.
Congratulations everyone! Almost there!
