This design started out soft, pale, tone on tone. I really liked it. Calm. What I had in mind. Then I thought about how it would look surrounded by colorful patterns. And I went bold. Or at least, bolder.
Dahlia Dreams, my entry for the Spoonflower Sweet Dreams Bedding Challenge. Voting open until May 23rd. Thanks for taking a look, and for your consideration in the voting. 🙂
I don’t even need to write a post for this design. The title is long enough, all by itself! There is a prompt when you enter the challenge that asks if your title meets the challenge requirements. I may have over thought it. 😏
Spoonflower partnered with Pantone for this, their Pantone Ultra-Steady Wallpaper Design Challenge. Now that is a mouthful. Pantone selected the limited palette.
I eliminated the greys right off. I wasn’t feeling “minty”, or ultra-bold. That left me with three soft hues. I did try a dark outline, to bring in another color. I prefer the soft tones on their own. I had in mind a deconstructed, or faded feel.
The Spoonflower Fans page on Facebook gives me an early peek to some of the designs. And WOW! The designers made awesome use of the palettes. Voting is open until May 9th. Can you believe we are in May already?
Festive Fetti Fun placed well within the top 50%, at 47.14% with 36 votes. You can see the top 74, here.
I am so glad you enjoyed this pattern. Even though it did not show well in the voting display. Thank you for taking the time to vote, and supporting my digital design devotion. 😍🙏
This week the Spoonflower design challenge was for Birthday Party Table Linens. And it is being shown on the table runner. I decided to make sure my entry worked on the runner. Which meant that it might not work as well on many of the other products. The coordinating designs do work more universally. But I goofed. They used a different mock up. Haha. I should have done a toss pattern.
The brief also stated we should consider the design being used for years to come. I considered using a more generic phrase. One that would work for birthdays and various celebrations.
I have done only one other chevron design. But it seemed perfect for this. To me, suggesting a banner hanging high above the birthday table.
