30-Day Creative Gathering Begins In Five Days

Our 30-Day Creative Gathering is an informal gathering of creators.
Just paint each day in February (& September).
Or sketch, or take a photo.
We welcome all levels, all mediums.

Creating each day
doesn’t have to mean completing a finished piece.
Work in progress is welcome!

You can choose to follow a theme,
experiment with new tools,
use a new palette.
Or not. 😉

By gathering together
we connect with others,
make new friends,
& cheer each other on.

Hope to see you there!

Wishing you JOY!

Earth Tone Throw Pillows. Spoonflower gave the designers a limited palette this week. Four colors. I used them all. I don’t know why, but I had it in my head, that it was a neutral challenge. Neutral colors. Subtle. Soft. I had several ideas for subtle patterns. I read the instructions again, and saw the color choices. And I had nothing. 😆

I wasn’t comfortable with the palette. You know me well enough, I don’t often reach for these hues. So I thought it would help to use design elements I am familiar with. This is a new design. We are not allowed to enter the same design twice. (You can see the two designs like this on my Spoonflower widget to the right.)

The collection includes 3 designs and two colorways, each with or without a linen effect.

I prefer the caramel version, but I think the contrast of the dark and light might show better, and that is my entry for this Spoonflower challenge. Voting is now open, until the 31st. I am always grateful for your votes.
There are over 1700 entries this week. Definitely need to grab a cuppa and use it as a short break in the day. 😊 Scroll through slowly, and allow the page to load. Especially if you an using your phone or pad. 🙂

What a fun find! Lorie English recently posted this on Instagram, you can find her @recreated_now. Lorie makes fabulous upcycled handbags. She uses feed sacks, cargo pants, and colorful fabrics. For this one she found my 70’s Fab Floral in Avocado! How groovy! I love the simplicity, and the clean lines.

Looking through her Etsy site, LoriesBags, I was reminded of a favorite bag I had when I was about nine. It was 1976. The bag was navy blue, with red, white and blue stars on the wide fabric strap. The top flap closed with a metal twist clasp, and had a large “’76” on the front. It was about 8 x 8 inches, and “U” shaped, much like this one. I loved that bag. I’m pretty sure I wore it like a crossbody bag. And I vaguely remember collecting rocks with it that summer.

I love the pockets on the inside!
