This is my 11th painting challenge with Leslie Saeta. I think I missed the first one. I didn’t have time to paint art until well after midnight. Simple will have to suffice.

Not sure if it shows, the difference between wet and dry. The petal on the left (below) is wet and the color is so juicy. It dried more muted. I need to go back in and build layers of color but I do like the variations, the light areas. I filled the wet petal with color, spread it around. Then while it was still wet, I loaded my brush again (lightly) and dropped in more color at the base and along the sides. I also added it to some areas in the middle of the petal.

Wet vs dry.

Three frames, and 1 corkboard. That is what I painted today. One of the projects on my list is to get art on the walls. I started a week ago. OK, maybe two weeks. And I have a feeling it will be the end of the week before I finish.

I’ve collected frames from antique shops, Goodwill and clearance racks. Most of them are in great condition but a few needed a touch-up. One frame was damaged, so I added more “damage” using the backend of a hammer and a flat-head screwdriver. A few coats of paint and it is good as new. The frame is black so you really can’t see the nicks until you are up close. And it was impossible to get a photo to show you.

Happy painting to Leslie’s crew! And happy day to everyone!

February 2018 Painting Challenge Review

I don’t know what it was about this challenge. But it seemed to fly by. Maybe it was having a month to recuperate from the holidays. Or the shorter month that made the 30 days not feel like 30. Or because this is my tenth challenge. All I know is, I felt less stressed and pressured than in past events. And yes, I know that the stress and pressure came from me, myself, and I.

I had a good first day, but got off to a mixed start. I felt I was posting a lot of “redo’s” or unfinished pieces. But even with that, I just felt they needed more work. I wasn’t in a serious fret mode. By midpoint I think I caught my stride.

Below you can see my favorites from the month, and viewer favorites. Of all the paintings, there are only five that I do not like. One of those made it on the viewer list (Mingus). Go figure.

I had some bad news this month, and there are major changes going on. Please know, each of you, your visits, and our conversations – have been very important to me. Thank you!

I will be adding these to my (nonexistent) Etsy shop. Most are still available, minus the giveaways. Prices range from $30 – $100. If you are interested, let me know in a comment, and leave your email address (I won’t publish that part).

Here we are. The end of the challenge. And I have to say, February made it fly by. Tomorrow I will share all 30 paintings in a collage. I will share my favorites, and tell you which paintings were the most popular by page views.

See you then!
