I was going to call this a work in progress. But I think there is just too much work needed to make it presentable. I could call it a color study, or a learning experience. Yeah. It is a color study.

My inspiration was a soft and washy piece of art. Light and airy, smooth transitions. HA! Oh and some photos of flowers that artist Sea Dean sent me.

Who am I kidding. I CAN NOT do light and airy. LOL! Oh well.

I whipped this out after arriving home from a three-hour tour. I mean, a three-day road trip. I will share more about that soon. Assignment completed. One daily painting.

I had another abstract ready to go, but I reeaaallly don’t like it. HA! Now I am thinkin’ I like it just a little better than this. At least it isn’t messy.

Oh well, I had fun, relaxed a bit, and got to play with my watercolors. I was missing them. I used a Sharpie paint pen to draw the lines and dots. Thought it would work as a resist. And it did for the most part.

Tomorrow is my catch up day. I have missed seeing all the incredible art created in the challenge. I’ll be visiting a blog near you soon!

Lookin’ Out My Back Door

Granite Mountain

Granite Mountain Close-up

Today was so crisp and clear, gave a great view of Granite Mountain.  The wall is new. There will be houses just beyond, but they are supposed to be single story homes. Sure hope so, or we will lose this view.

Did some painting today. Not on canvas or paper. These cork trivets (Ikea) will be put to good use soon.

Came across this painting from November. It needed to be fixed, and I finally got to it today. It had an unfortunate splotch. You can see the original here. I had to rework the sky area several times before I was happy with it. I added more ink, and the edges along the petals became “ruffled” in the process. I really like the effect.

I opened up the back door to get a clear shot of the mountain. Brought this song to mind, and it stayed all afternoon.

Have a great weekend and may you find no sorrow!

Crop Or Flop

This has been sitting on my desk for a week. I watched a Youtube demo, and that artist covered her tile with one solid color, and then painted flowers over that. I had that in my head when I started this, but clearly I was not thinking. I covered the paper in the sky blue. We all know what you get when you mix blue and yellow.

Started 4 x 4 inches. But the head was flat on one side, and the petals sort of flopped on that side as well. Digital crop to the rescue. Funny it took me that long for it to dawn on me to crop. But it did. Took a while for this to grow on me.

Site was down for three hours today. The internet to the server was out. The internet was out to all of Miles City (MT. Where the server is). Here’s hoping it stays up now.

Wishing you a day free of mishaps!
