There might be one or two more of these. Paintings on this theme. I know I said I have enough. We’ll see what transpires.

I started this with my palette in mind. I actually had tried to use it during Leslies January Challenge. I still have two of those boards prepped and waiting to be finished. I found the color inspiration on Pinterest. A beautiful journal page by Roben-Marie Smith. I just love the messy, splotchy, warm feel of it.

I do wish my lettering skills were better. I have never been known for my penmanship. I remember once in grade school, must have been 2nd or third grade, a teacher commented on how bad it was. She was visiting our class, and I had just signed my name at the top of the paper. She was standing over me, and in a snooty voice, she said, “How can you even read who this is?” And my teacher said, ” Oh that is easy, that’s Sheila!”

I remember thinking, if I had all that space at the top of the page, I was going to use it. Paper is made to be used, right? To this day, I can never sign my name the same way twice. Just doesn’t happen.

I will never be a typographer and calligraphy is out of the question, even with a cheater, chiseled pen.  I so admire those with the talent!

It would have helped, if I had a decent pen. All of my pens are dying… I need a pen sale fast! But even with my crookedy-second-grader writing, I like how this turned out.

Hope you will visit the gallery on Leslie’s blog today!

Day 25 – 30 in 30

Whew, we are over the hump, and comin’ round the bend. I have to admit I am glad we are almost there. I have had a high ratio of good paintings to bad, but I am not sure how long I can keep that up! ;-.)

For today, I worked on an 8 x 8 canvas panel. I took my cue for an artist I admire, Sandrine Pelissier. She does amazing large-scale work, and her floral arrangements are so fun and cheerful. I know part of the reason I love them so much, is all the pattern details she adds to them.

I had too much fun on this. It is not a one day painting. I prepped the panel with the purple  a couple of days ago. Cool found tool – I used a nail head to “stamp” the circles on the table.

Only a few days left to enjoy the gallery on Leslie’s Blog.

This is making me hungry for a slice of blueberry pie. With a small dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. I am going to count this done, but I think it is still a work in progress. Well, the painting IS done.

The design options still need work. I can turn it in to a repeating pattern, use it in my Zazzle shop, or?

I played with the idea of adding hearts. I may add a fringed border to these. Still thinking on that.

I painted the hearts on watercolor paper, added pen details and then trimmed them in white. That just was blah against the white of the background so I tried yellow to warm it up a bit.

This may be the last “Love” themed piece I do during the challenge. I have enough now to choose from for submission to “LOVE SAYINGS: wit & wisdom of romance, courtship, and marriage.”

Tomorrow I will show you them all. You can tell me which ones you think are best. Have a super day. More 30 In 30 artwork on display here.
