At the start of the challenge, I had a “grand plan”. I recently discovered a new technique. At least, new to me. Laly Mille has an encaustic inspired method. I have long been wanting to work in encaustic, so I was really excited when I read her post.

I worked to get ahead on the challenge. I started with five small canvases. Mini Mingus views. And guess what. I bombed. That’s what I get for getting too ambitious. And for not practicing on just one first. One failure would have been easier to take!

From day one, I felt behind schedule. And slightly dissappointed. I hoped to post the January pieces for sale.  I will try the technique again. I think I can salvage the duds.

If you have been reading my posts, you know I have had a lot of duds this month. Many “do-over’s”. The big surprise is. I am happy with everything I have worked on this month. Somehow, it all worked out.

Here are my favorites.

The days with the most page views were: 3, 4, 7, 13, 17, 20, 21. Day 21 was the highest by far.  What was your favorite?

I am so grateful to all of you who followed along with me this month. Your observations and comments helped to carry me through the difficult days. Such a blessing to wake up and be greeted by friends!  (Made new friends too!) Thank you for taking the time.

I have gone way over my data limit, so I will not be commenting on the collages until I return home. I will catch up though! No posts until then as well. I did bring a few supplies with me, and I will be painting when I can.

Happy resting if you are going to rest! Joyful creating to you always! Blessed 2017 to all!

heART Exchange Global Postcard Art Swap

heArt Exchange November 2016, Postcards received from Carolyn Hanson, Christine Brooks, and Jacki Wright.

heArt Exchange November 2016, Postcards received from Carolyn Hanson, Christine Brooks, and Jacki Wright.

These are the wonderful postcards I received in the heART Exchange Global Postcard Art Swap. “Peace” was the theme of this swap.

Christine Brooks Sent the card on top. A wonderful nature collage. On the back, this wonderful message:

Peace be with you & in you. Take time to listen and LOVE
it’s all we need…

Beautiful! I have been blessed by receiving several cards from Christine since we relocated. She is right up the road in Flagstaff AZ.

The second gorgeous card is from Carolyn Hanson in Ohio. It is a collage with scrap papers, gesso and wonderful soft hues. On the front, ” I held out my hand to her”. On the back:

Peace is not something you wish for, it’s something you make.
Robert Fulgheren

The last card is lovely in its simplicity. From Jacki Wright in New Brighton, Wirral, United Kingdom. Delicate flowers and a reminder that we are all in control of our peace of mind. On the back:

May every sunrise hold more promise, and every sunset hold more peace.

So thankful for these handmade, beautiful, thoughtful postcards! Couldn’t help but share these warm thoughts with you.

Thank you Christine! Thank you Carolyn! Thank you Jacki!

Louise Gale hosts several of these swaps each year. Take a look at her site, and consider participating in one. Or all! Thank you Louise for hosting this fabulous swap! And for the message that “your heART makes a difference”!

As a small token of my gratefulness, I am sending bookmarks to these talented women. Your art made my day!

Happy weekend everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Joy! The postcard from Christine was an “extra”. I was surprised when I received this wonderful card from Ann. It looks like a fine oil painting, and included a very sweet message. Thank you Ann! I love the warm colors. I will be sending you a bookmark as well so keep your eyes on the mail!

January Painting Challenge In Review

Jan 2016 30 In 30 Challenge, sheiladelgado.com. Sheila Delgado

The challenge is officially over. I am ready for a break, but I am committed to continuing the daily habit. Be it sketch, or paint, or digital design. Wish me luck!

Out of my 30 pieces for this month, there are only five that I am not thrilled with. Not bad odds. There are a few others I did not like at first, but they have grown on me. Some of that has to do with insights of others. My followers, friends and family. Thank you to my fellow artists for your support and encouragement. I am grateful to you!

I made a collage of my favorites for the month. Which paintings did you like best?

My January favorites.

I will choose from the nine paintings above to create postcards for the upcoming Liberate Your Art exchange. I can never decide on just one design, so there will be at least five.

I love the daily conversations with my artist friends.  Miss that the most when the challenge ends. Seeing your art each day is so inspiring and uplifting! Thank you all! For sharing your process, your successes, and your lessons learned when things did not go as hoped. I wish you the very best in the year ahead!

Cheers to Leslie Saeta for another successful 30 In 30!
Thank you for bringing us all together!

Cheers to the 1403 participating artists worldwide!
