30-Day Creative Gathering, The Collage

The September 30-Day Creative Gathering was a hit! Participation was down, but many artists who could not take part daily still contributed to the conversations and camaraderie.

Fourteen to Twenty pieces were posted each day in the daily albums. And roughly 586 pieces of art were created in the group this month. WOW!

Congratulations to all of you! You persevered through Hurricane Laura, California wildfires, health issues, COVID and all of the demands of life in this unusual year. Whether you created on a few days, or all 30, congratulations!

For a tough month, I think I did OK. It was a struggle for me. I created 16 really, really bad pieces of art. Haha. Many days I worked on two or three at a time. To increase the odds of having something decent to share. Haha. And yet, almost half of the art I posted is on my favorites list. How ’bout that?! Some of these will be posted for sale in my Society6 shop soon.

Thanks so much for following along! Your encouragement keeps me going!
You are a blessing!

Getting Crowded

Adding Layers
Adding Layers

Today I am adding layers to the postcards. Pencil marks and scratches. I had a burst of energy at about 9:30 last night. It didn’t last long, but I did get quite a bit done. Some cleaning and what you see here.

I found a great discounted frame at Hobby Lobby. Solid wood. Just over six bucks! A steal. I think it may have been rejected because a couple of the corners don’t match up well. I used a black nail file and fixed that right quick. Haha.

I had no idea if it was a standard size. I knew I could find something to fit. I worked in framing years ago, and I can’t resist a great deal on a frame. Luck was on my side! It is standard, 8 x 10. Woo Whoo!

I knew I would paint it. Of course. You know me. It had a red undertone, and I wasn’t keen on it. I will add several layers. It will be darker and look slightly aged. I’m hopin’. Stay tuned.

I finally made a start on the Sandy Sandy class I won on Instagram. She will be doing more giveaways, follow her if you are interested. Her work is stunning and she is a wonderful teacher. (Thank you Sandy! And thanks to Christine B. or Kat V.R.! One of you tagged me for this.)

I have started on the videos that are included. And I have some sketches ready for painting. I don’t have a lightbox, so I use my computer screen to transfer the reference images.

of a man from Marseilles eating bouillabaisse,
which shouldn’t come as a surprise to you
because I am busy painting huge sunflowers.”

February 30-Day Creative Gathering

Artwork Sampling

This is a small collection of the work that was created during the gathering. The group has grown to 132 members. In the past month, there were over 19 thousand posts, comments, and reactions shared within the group. That’s a lotta sharin’, talkin’, and cheerin’!

700 pieces were posted in the daily albums. 119 images were posted elsewhere. The day 1 album had the most posts, 31. The remaining daily album posts ranged between 17 and 30. This count is incomplete, however, due to misclassified posts.

The group was started as a continuation of the 30-Day challenge tradition. Many of the artists involved have been doing a bi-annual painting challenge for over 7 years. I am thrilled that so many choose to keep the challenge alive!

I am so honored to be among this group of creative talents. Your work is amazing! I applaud your learning and experimenting. Your desire for growth. Your generosity and graciousness with fellow group members. Congratulations everyone on our second fabulous event!

Thank you all for granting permission to share your work here and on the group Pinterest board. There are just over 100 images on the board. It is a fabulous gallery!

The art is shown in no particular order. You can click on the galleries (side by side images) to view the work without the title along the bottom. It will not, however, increase the size of the image. There is more art on the board from artists who write blogs. (They are directly pinable.)

Enjoy!
