What induces you, oh man, to depart from your home in town, to leave parents and friends, and go to the countryside
over mountains and valleys,
if it is not for the beauty of the world of nature?
Leonardo da Vinci

Study how water flows in a valley stream,
smoothly and freely between the rocks.
Also learn from holy books and wise people.
Everything – even mountains, rivers, plants and trees
– should be your teacher.
Morihei Ueshiba

This painting uses a technique for breaking through your creative block. Again I used a credit card and Yupo. Those two together take control out of the equation. You get what you get. And yes, it might be a hot mess. But it is organic and free-flowing. There are areas of interesting cracking and texture that are not visible in the low res image, unfortunately.

I will be trying more of these. I noticed I was relaxed while working on them. A little closer to getting in the zone.

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing,
wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating;
there is really no such thing as bad weather,
only different kinds of good weather.
John Ruskin

Sometimes we should express our gratitude
for the small and simple things like
the scent of the rain,
the taste of your favorite food,
or the sound of a loved one’s voice.
Joseph B. Wirthlin
