Where were you at 7:19 Sunday Morning? I know, me too. In bed. I missed it. Didn’t hear a thing. The meteor. YES, a meteor!! It’s still unofficial. It could have been an earthquake. Or a sonic boom from a jet. But there was no air traffic at the base during that time (90 mi. south). And no official reports of an earthquake. The closest one at that time was in Oregon.

Is that cool or what? Well, cool because no one was injured. And the rest of us are still alive.

It was witnessed by a few people in Prescott Valley. In this video, at about 6:10, they show how it may have traveled, northwards, right in front of Mingus, and the hills I have so often painted. (Mingus is on the left, the hills are in front, and the smaller hills in the back are to the north.) But that is just one theory right now. Some reported windows and garage doors shaking. And others reported all the dogs in their neighborhood barking.

At first, reports said it was only heard or felt in our area, but later reports have said that Phoenix was aware of it as well. Time will tell, but I am eagerly following the story.

Elephant bush is often called a miniature Jade, even though it is not related to Jade plants. This plant absorbs high levels of carbon from the air, making it a great plant for the home.

This succulent is eaten by elephants, also goats and tortoises. It is also used in Southern African cuisine. Often added to salads, soups, and stews. Hmm. Interesting.

I had two of these small plants. Killed them both. Even though the conditions were right. Every time I see them, I want to bring one home and try again. The teeny-tiny leaves are irresistible.

This is a Corkscrew Rush. I think. I have seen these as ornamentals in landscaping also potted indoors. The leaves are pencil-like. Round. They spiral and curl and grow every which way. So fun don’t you think?

I started with a patterned paper. Used a brayer to add layers of green and turquoise. Added watercolor crayon in areas, and used a pen to bring out some of the patterns.
