Color is my day-long obsession, joy and torment. – Claude Monet
To practice any art, no matter how well or how badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. So do it. – Kurt Vonnegut
In the final week now. Curious to know if your July has passed as quickly as mine. Haha. Choosing this 2 x 2 inch size was a surprisingly good idea. So much fun! I’m going to keep a stack of minis at the ready.
Time to paint!
Enjoy!
Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things. – Ray Bradbury
Day 21 you’ve got that colour just right. The final glow of the sun setting behind a mountain, a few moments before it becomes night. It reminds me of long summer evenings beside the campfire with good friends.
Awesome memories Sea! you made me think of long summer nights, running around like a banshee with my cousins.
Using every last bit of daylight before we had to be home.
Thank you Sea! 🙂
20, 21, 22 especially reach right out and grab me. Sheila, this 2×2″ format is terrific! It’s fun for me to picture you in the act of painting, to know the absorption, mystery, challenge, and wonder that are yours.
Oh my, what a treasure arrived in my email box this morning, full of riches. The cacti and their flowers is exquisite, what rich color, beautiful gradations. The clouds in the landscape feel puffy and appear as if they are going to float off the canvas. Love the happenings in the deep red-browns of the desert hills. Stunning the rich colourful bouquet juxtaposed with its starker vase and background. Thank you for sharing all the quotes, especially Vonnegut’s. I had not heard that quote before and it’s just what I needed this morning. A wonderful July indeed! Kudos!
That quote is new to me, and it really struck a chord with me as well. 🙂
Thank you Lauralle, for showing me my work through your eyes. 🙂
Made my day ;O)
Sheila, You really have a knack for painting succulents and cacti. These, especially, are beautiful with their variations in color. Brava!
Thanks so much Martha! 🙂 I have so much fun painting them. So glad you enjoy them as well! ;o)
Your paintings are glorious!!! Sorry, I’ve been away so long. I’ve missed so much! <3
Aww, thank you Karin. 🙂 YOU have been missed! So great to hear from you.
Sounds like there is plenty of creative energy in your neck of the woods. 🙂
Wow – some super pieces today Sheila. I really like 18, 20 and 22!
Thank you Val. 🙂 Those are some of my favorites as well.
