This is my 11th painting challenge with Leslie Saeta. I think I missed the first one. I didn’t have time to paint art until well after midnight. Simple will have to suffice.
Not sure if it shows, the difference between wet and dry. The petal on the left (below) is wet and the color is so juicy. It dried more muted. I need to go back in and build layers of color but I do like the variations, the light areas. I filled the wet petal with color, spread it around. Then while it was still wet, I loaded my brush again (lightly) and dropped in more color at the base and along the sides. I also added it to some areas in the middle of the petal.
Three frames, and 1 corkboard. That is what I painted today. One of the projects on my list is to get art on the walls. I started a week ago. OK, maybe two weeks. And I have a feeling it will be the end of the week before I finish.
I’ve collected frames from antique shops, Goodwill and clearance racks. Most of them are in great condition but a few needed a touch-up. One frame was damaged, so I added more “damage” using the backend of a hammer and a flat-head screwdriver. A few coats of paint and it is good as new. The frame is black so you really can’t see the nicks until you are up close. And it was impossible to get a photo to show you.
Happy painting to Leslie’s crew! And happy day to everyone!
Simple and nice!

Ha ha ha. I will show you Dotty… if I ever finish, LOL 🙂 Thought I would be done tonight. NOT. I sure am enjoying your watercolor explorations Dotty!
I think that the combination of both wet and dry techniques is quite interesting and gives it more texture and depth.
Hi Teresa!! Thank you 🙂 Great to hear for being a quickie 😉 Hope you are well, and enjoying some creative time 🙂
Wonderful example of ‘less is more’. Lovely to see your work; will check back later this month to see all the work you’re doing in the challenge!
Thank you Corinne, and for stopping by! 🙂 Have fun 😉
Fantastic
Thank you Christine :o)
Bright and bold! A super little piece Sheila and, yes, it can be annoying when watercolour dries lighter.
I know that is a given with watercolor Val. But some colors surprise you more than others. LOL 🙂 Thanks Val for checking in 😉
What an artistic trooper you are! 11 challenges…whew!! It’s darn right inspirational, my friend. I only have 8 more to catch up…it’s a beautiful flower and the bud balances the composition just enough…the closeup really makes you feel the rich variations of flow and color
Ha ha ha, thanks Laurelle. I think Sea Dean has me beat. Trying to remember. I think you are amazing to attempt to paint daily i your medium and style and sizes!! You have given me an idea for the next one! Thanks Laurelle 🙂
