I have thought about September and the 30 in 30 challenge. Debating if I want to commit to a theme or not. Thinking I could use it to paint some of the complex, layered Mingus ideas. Or to practice portraits, because I rarely do portraits. Or cacti, or sea shells, or? Well, I guess I will see what I am in the mood for when the time comes.
This is a busy week, so I painted ahead. (And then forgot to post.) Tomorrow I will post a short review of the month. I am curious to see if September will pass quickly, or if I will feel any struggle or slowing of time. 100 days passed quickly because I was distracted and busy. And this month whooshed by, because I was almost halfway through when the 100 days ended.
I am looking forward to the camaraderie of the 30 in 30. I did not make any new connections in either the #100Day Project, or the #WorldWatercolorMonth. I missed that, and the feeling of being part of a whole. I know that is more due to my situation, rather than any fault of these events.

We’re on the same wavelength. I am thinking about Saeta challenge also. She has made no mention of it; so I’m wondering if it’s even occurring, and if it does, what I will do. Part of me wants to do portraits; the other side says florals because I find them so difficult and yet find such joy in others doing them, such as yourself. These above are so cheerful and make me happy. The third one, the contrasting background is really effective. The middle one has such an interesting flower that you captured. The first, love the juxtaposition of purple and yellow flowers. I know what you mean about camaraderie. Being an artist can be a lonely affair. We need others’ feedback and support. I think your last two challenges might have just been too large a forum. Saeta seems to attract a strong base of like-minded people and so it works.
That could be it Laurelle. Too many people. And maybe too many different agendas. The artists that do the 30, well we all seem to make an effort to connect and cheer each other on.
I am laughing, because I feel the same way about portraits. JOY in what I see others do, in their amazing talent. And for me, portraits are such a struggle.
I will be cheering you on, no matter what you decide! See you in September 🙂
