Three weeks. Can you believe it? And I am saying that as, “I ONLY have three weeks!” Not enough time. Ha ha, he he, ho ho. Those of you who have taken part in the 30 in 30’s know how funny that is. In one of those challenges, three weeks would be daunting.

I like #78 best of these two. I don’t think #77 is bad, just unfinished. For #78, I think just a smidge more dark at the base of Mingus will do the trick. Maybe just above the hilltop on the left.  Tomorrow I will work on these more, after a second look.

Today was a recovery day for me. After two days of running around in Phoenix. We are doing it all again next week, so I will need to push to get ahead. HA! Yeah right, you say.

More appointments and planning for Pete. He is slowly recovering his strength. His hearing was affected by the surgery, the swelling, and that is coming back little by little. He lost about ten pounds, and all of this together is affecting his balance and physical therapy sessions. He is still not sleeping through the night. But he is sleeping more.

Next week we will find out when the Proton Beam Therapy will begin. It will mean a five-week stay in Phoenix. The hospital has a program that provides a place to stay nearby, and they shuttle you to and from treatments. It will be three or five days a week. Can’t remember which now. And the sessions only last 30 minutes. If you have never heard of it, there is a video at that link, very interesting.

I won’t be staying, only the spouse is allowed. But I will be driving down for visits. Also for some appointments of my own. The busy is going to last through summer!

Oh and, by the way. I signed up for World Watercolor Month. For July. Right before Christine invited me to join in the Love Notes postcard swap. (I told her I would have to pass.)

Yes, I have lost it. But I figure, I am painting for the #100 until the 11th. So I will kinda be killing two birds with one stone. Anyone want to join me?? Christine? (How many did you paint on vacation?) Anyone? Ha ha ha. Cue the crickets.

God Bless us – everyone!

Well, first and foremost, many prayers to Pete in his new treatment. I did click on it and I believe it is the same type of focused radiation that my mother had. And take care of yourself on your drives there. Go slow.
I like both of these renderings of Mingus. The dramatic warm colors and cooler sky really resonate the heat that the mountains are absorbing and emitting right now. Only three weeks to go…that’s fantastic, Sheila!

Thank you Laurelle, I will let him know. Hope your Mother is healed, and past all of that 😉 The 17 is like the I-25 in Colorado, and the I-5 or 15 in California. Crazy busy. Always careful there. Thank you 😉
Funny and true. Today it is 102 here, hottest it has been. What???? That is a Phoenix temp. But we are lucky in that it really cools down at night.

Can’t believe it myself Laurelle! But if you ask me, I will do it again next time 😉 TTY soon!

My word – I do think you are crazy Sheila. With all you have going on to take on another month of painting commitments – wow!. I like these two pieces as they made me think of Mingus in the heat of summer – strong hot colours! Very cool – lol!

Awesome Val, so glad you see hot summer 😉 Yeah, I will give you that. But I have a plan. There will be the 11 Mingus paintings, and some small sketches in my book. And I am going to paint ahead. They will be smaller, and the subjects will be varied. They give you prompts, but you can paint anything you want. So I may be doing flowers or cacti. Working small, so I think it will be alright. LOL 😉

Sheila, was hoping you’d post soon, and then you did! Hooray! I am drinking in every delicious detail of #77 and #78—the scritches, the blooms, the drips, the value contrasts, the ink linework, the pencil (?) linework—because I’m off for an artplaydate with a longtime friend today whom I haven’t seen for nearly a year, and (a) she wants to explore something landscapy and (b) a different longtime friend who is moving house passed along some Pentel and some Caran D’ache WATERCOLORS. I have NO experience w/ watercolors beyond dimestore sets from childhood. I will be channeling my inner Sheila FOR SURE, and gratefully so!

I am so glad you have your art as you navigate the many health challenges 2018 has brought. Much love to you and yours.

Ha ha ha, I was hoping I’d post soon too Dotty 🙂 LOL. The line work is paint, using a very small brush. I like how they turned out as well. There is pencil underneath. I wrote you a letter with a bunch of watercolor info. I know you won’t see it until the end of the day.

I can’t wait to see what you created today Dotty!

Thanks so much for the well wishes and prayers my friend. The same in spades to you 😉
