I have thought some of these sketchy pieces might actually be fun as starts for further exploration. I’m thinking pastels. But I need to buy some first. Ha ha ha. I deliberately left these with minimal details for that reason.
Happy day to you!

Beautiful set!!! Thank you for reminding me that there is always a birthing beauty waiting to be held in one’s eye, if we only dare to dream to see anew. Peace, good health and blessings, my beautiful dearest and most talented friend. Paint your world with joy. Hugs!
Such a JOY to hear from you Trang 🙂 All the same to you, my encouraging friend! Hugs and Blessings!
Absolutely love them all – the sketchy feeling, your line work, the bits of white paper showing and the strong confident brush strokes. The variety of colour is terrific lights/darks, tones – so many wonderful things happening! They are not over painted and speak volumes about your love of the Mingus. Glad to be along for the ride!
Thanks so much Janet. I was under the gun to get so many done at one time. I had fun though. Great to hear you think they are not over worked 😉 I am glad to have you along Janet!
PS #33 and #38 are my favorites. Have you thought of doing a Mingus show locally. A couple of press releases and a good venue and I bet you’d sell a bunch. You could order 100 frames and/or mats all the same and it would be spectacular.
I was worried about #33. Glad you like it Sea. #38 is a favorite of mine as well. 😉
I have thought about contacting some of the local publications to see if they might be interested in doing an article. Giving me ideas Sea 😉
Wow! A whole bevy of Minguses to enjoy. Well done!
Thank you Sea! ;o)
Congratulations on getting all caught up. I could see these working well in pastels too.
I love seeing your progression on this Mingus theme.
Thanks so much Juana. I have wanted to try that for awhile now. New to me so I think it will be fun and challenging ?
A super variety of colour and mood. I really like the bottom 3. good job Sheila!
Thank you Val. Glad to hear it. I think I was more in the groove at the end. LOL ?
What a group. I just love your new looseness, think I mentioned before. #35#36 really reach out to me. Love the greens with the oranges! Keep up the GREAT work!
I am enjoying the process Carol. It is hard for me. But I so much would like to master the style. So glad you enjoy those two ??
These are just fantastic. You are really hitting your stride. I am so inspired. Nicely done.
Aww thanks for that Christine ? So nice to hear ?
Happy for you
Thank you Christine 🙂
These are great! My fav #37… I love its different layers of colors, the pink “keeps up” the other colors. Happy end of the week, Sheila!
I like that one too Louise. ? Happy weekend to you my friend ?
Oh, pastels would be a perfect medium to capture the variations of light on Mingus! It is interesting to see in these six how differently the substrate affects the painting outcome. We are all learning with you as you experiment.
I think it is going to be really fun. A learning for me for sure. That’s always a good thing ??
Sheila, one benefit of your posting these six paintings at one blow is that #33 acts as a foil to highlight for me how striking all the other ‘sketchy’ pieces are. I REALLY like the element of a bit of ‘roughness’ and ‘untidiness’ in this collection. #34-38 are dynamic; they say: “story here, start poking around.” Your work here is a gift to me in my own daily painting adventure.
I didn’t think of that but you are right Dotty? I like the roughness, I am always drawn to it in other artists work. Thank you Dotty, I appreciate that ??
