This started with the same dot pattern that was in Day 23. The “leaf” pattern was there as well, but in a soft peach color. (Scroll down to see.) I added 3 or 4 layers of very wet acrylic using a palette knife to spread the paint. There is collage, the heart shape had words, and there is a long strip on the left. Tissue top and bottom.
I kept the paint thin, to allow the previous layers to show. But somewhere a long the way, the words were lost. Interestingly, some of the polka dots, the first layer, are showing thru full color. How weird is that? The vase is Neocolor II. Thinking I might go back and “wash” some of that away, to show more of the texture.
Snowed today. Mingus disappeared. On and off for most of the afternoon. It didn’t really stick, but late tonight I noticed there was a light dusting. I think that is all we’re going to get. But my fingers are crossed for more .
Take a look at the amazing art at Leslie’s 30 In 30 Blog!
What attracts me is the two-tone background that forms the negative space around the blooms! Love how one bloom is only partly shown. Love the new looseness, gives it a fresh look!
Thank you Carol 🙂 This was fun to work on, and yes… I managed to stay loose on it 😉
The colours are beautiful and those organic shapes for the flowers are wonderful. From where I am sitting I wouldn’t change a thing. Love this one!!
Awesome to hear Janet, thanks a bunch! 🙂
PS Your painting from Day ??? arrived in my mailbox and it’s even better in real life. A lovely surprise at the end of a horrible week. At least it stopped snowing and the sun came out.
YAY! So glad it made it. Sorry to hear about your week, hope your weekend will be restful Sea.
From the first week. I would have to look.
Sun is out here too. And not a cloud in the sky. Snow has melted and it looks like spring 😉
I love the color combination in this one. Makes me want to paint a turquoise mountain with indigo lake and a lime green tree 🙂
Do it Sea! Now you have to, you teased me with the image, LOL.
Even though it was wintery outside, you were channeling spring. I love the color palette and the heart as it is without words.
Nice to know Laurelle. I like how it turned out too. It was a corner of a scrap, and I just had to shorten one side of it. Lucky scrap, LOL.
Such a great look of interesting textures in this piece and a very nice colour combo too. Nice work, Sheila.
Thank you Val 😉 I love that Neocolor II Turquoise! Have fun painting 🙂
nicely done
Thanks Christine 😉
Sheila, these colors together are gorgeous! I love everything about this painting including that sweet blue heart!
Thanks Laurie 🙂 I intended for the heart to be more, subdued. A whisper. But after the words were lost, I decided to bring it out with paint and pencil. Have fun today 🙂
Sheila, I am particularly enamored of the centers of the flowers and the delicate double outlines of those blooms. Also very much appreciate your giving us a bird’s eye view of your process.
So glad Dotty! I was hopping to achieve a watercolor effect, got lucky 😉 Only a few days now.. can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve 🙂
