I could kick myself for not getting before shots of these last three pieces. Oh well. Spilt milk. Today I added the vase, table, greenery. More Sunkissed Peach to the background, to soften a couple of rough edges. Scratch marks. Just a few because I scratched off some of the collaged tissue. And a lot of turquoise and indigo scribbles.
This might be a WIP. Haven’t decided. I really like it the way it is. But that pesky voice inside my head is whispering that I need to actually add the roses. Keep it simple Sheila.
More great art at Leslie’s 30 In 30 Blog!
Thanks for stopping by, and saying hello!
Always so great to hear from you!
So ‘Zen’ like. I love it the way it is. Simplicity is hard to do – that is what I love about this.
Zen! Love that, thank you Janet 🙂 I have been feeling that about some of your pieces this month… couldn’t think of the word I needed. ;(
I find this so soothing that I think a flower might interrupt the serenity. The green variations in the leaves are silhouetted nicely against the interesting background and the aqua and periwinkle table almost has a luminous quality to it. What I cannot wrap my head around is, how did you achieve the texture in the vase? It feels like I could touch it and feel it through the computer screen.
WOW, Laurelle! I love that 🙂 There is tissue collaged under the vase, partially. I did not place it in that spot for that purpose. The first layers were unintentional. I did not have a concept in mind at the time. 🙂
the strong diagonal, the whisper of collage, the earthy feeling of hand-shaped clay : )
That’s it Dotty. Love that you caught it (even I did not) Hand-shaped clay. 🙂
Your beautiful art puts me in the mood for Spring, Sheila! Thank you! Peace and blessings ?
Blessings to you as well Trang! Thank you for your generous words 🙂
An interesting conundrum Sheila – to add a rose or not. Some say that ‘less is more’ while others might suggest a bold accent in a colour outside those already used. I rather like it simple.
You and everyone else it seems Val. 🙂 And me 😉
Sheila – I love it the way it is!!!
Thanks for letting me know Connie 😉
i like it the way it is, just greens.
Looks like greens it is 😉
Yesterday I finished a simple painting with just greenery in a vase. I forced myself not to do more. At least I thought I was finished. I’m going back and forth on it. Now I see this. And the other day I finished “Wishin and Hopin” and then I see your “Bobby’s Girl”. This is getting weird! We’re on the same wave lenghth, Sheila! Hahaha! So it must be a sign! What ever you end up doing with this, leave the awesome simpleness to it. Because it’s not so simple- the scribbles, the soft words, the arrow. Wonderful!
That is weird Laurie! And awesome! To be anywhere near your wave length is an honor and an inspiration!! 😉 I forgot to say that the turquoise touches on the leaves were inspired by you.
Leaving it alone.
Advise, don’t listen to those pesky voices, they’ll only lead you in trouble. Yes this piece stands on its own. Love all those layers!
All righty then Carol. 😉 So glad you like it 🙂
