I considered adding a touch of indigo to this. Instead I drew tiny turquoise circles. Acrylic, Caran d’Ache, texture sheet, collage, some finger painting. Used a palette knife for the first layers. Random marks.
Feeling like this might be a work in progress. The collage shape is nudging at me. I may add more Flesh tone to balance or conceal. Loving the pinkish, peachy flesh color, “Natural Buff”. But it does not scan as well as it looks in person. It is warm, and not too feminine. Or maybe it is. What do you think?
Day two is through?

This is lovely – the text the colours and mark making. I like Carol’s comment – maybe it just needs time to ‘be’. I appreciate it – we are once again in the deep freeze and this gives me hope that spring can’t be too far away?!
Thank you Janet. I love the “spring” feel as well. It is warming up here, so I think you are right. Wishing you warmth, and happy creating!
SSSSSTTTTOPPPPP perfect!
OK, I will Sea 😉 LOL
Beautiful !!!!
Thank you Lana 🙂
“Water Sprite”—fun title!—doesn’t look unfinished to me but, as I know from personal experience, there might be something else in you wanting expression here that once expressed would have us all shaking our heads wondering how we could have thought the piece was complete before!
This piece says SPRING to me (Punxatawney Phil and his shadow be damned!). Pysanky (not to be confused with Punxatawney!) eggs come to mind : )
Wow, awesome reference Dotty 🙂 Spring it is, came to my mind as well. And it feels like spring today here! Seeing it today, I still like it the way it is… but what you said about wanting expression… so perceptive 😉
Lovely colour combo Sheila but I think the white at the top is a bit distracting. I do like the words.
Thank you Val, I will take another look:)
I love the script the best of all. It is so soft and delicate overall, and if I added anything at all (which you don’t need to) it would be just a tad darker value around where the writing is? (to push that text forward) Just a tad. But it’s perfect the way it is, too. Not much help am I?lol
Oh but you are Laurie 😉 Thank you friend 🙂
It is definitely feminine, Sheila, lovely and light. I am doing a workshop right now where you make these creative backgrounds and then add a figure contour drawing on top. Your feeling for design and imagination would be perfect. a little water sprite or fairy-type creature would seem right at home.
That sounds really fun Laurelle! I was thinking of doing some negative painting, but maybe a silhouette? Have fun today 🙂
perfect as is . Love the contrast with script! When you start to think too much time to leave it alone, words from my teacher!
Thank you Carol. Wise words 😉
