WOW! I knew it had been awhile since my last post. Had no idea it had been this long. Hi!
I have kept up with all of you on Instagram. Really liking that platform. So much fabulous art and scenery!! I have posted some things on there that I forgot to post here.
Well, I thought I had posted the first layers of this. But nope. I started with layers of acrylic, rolled on with a brayer. White, rust, and a soft, warm pink (skin tone). Tonight I added layers of watercolor pencil, Inktense. And Neocolor II crayon. I felt like scribbling. Inspired by Dotty Seiter, Simone Nijbour, and Carol Edan. I am still catching up with Pauline Agnew’s Ecourse, her influence is here as well. So grateful she offered this with an extended access time. Grateful to all of these amazing women for their creative fearlessness!
These layers were added quickly and without a plan. Just play really. Mindless, in the moment mark making. I loved the marks dry. But I am a watercolor gal. So I added water with a brush.
Yeah, that’s it. Messy goodness. This is on inexpensive paper, and I usually hate the line pattern. But I am really liking it here.
Not done yet, but it may have to sit and marinate.
Busy life for you Sheila that you can’t remember what you have posted where – lol. This price is very free and easy – it looks like you had fun doing it. Merry Christmas and Happy creating!
LOL, well I am working on a design project with a friend. But I think I am still in a slight fog from being sick. LOL. I added the marks late last night, so that helped the free and easy part. I did have fun 😉
I have to admit the Neocolors, well I have probably said it before. They are crayons, and that takes me right back to childhood and coloring every chance I got. I am sure it helps get me in right brain mode 😉
Merry Christmas Val! I hope the snow isn’t too bad, but I know that gives you a chance to stay in and create. Enjoy 🙂
Sheila, this is the first time I got to see an image and read your post in my email box. Loved it. Not sure if you made a change or if it was on my side. My favorite part of this little painting is the orange color against the salon pink, the contrast isn’t overbearing. Love those circles. Have a Merry Christmas.
WOW! I am so glad Larry 🙂 Must be on your side. I was having problems with emails going out , but that was in September. Glad you are getting them now 😉 Loved your lights on your Christmas revision. So fun.
Dotty and Simone use circles often. So they have been in my head. I tend to doodle circles and those loops when I am on hold or, well you know.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Larry! So. Cal is still in my prayers 🙂
I was wondering where you had gone. So nice to see you’re still making art. I was beginning to wonder. 😉
WOW thanks Katie 😉 There are five pieces on my desk in progress. And I could have, thought I did, post the first layers of this. Think maybe it is brain fog from the recent, (still in recovery), illness. Happy five minutes of painting to you today! Enjoy! Can’t wait to see it 😉
I’d been wondering when I might see a new post from you, and now I know! Great to have you back! Always like seeing what you’re up to in your artplay—’messy goodness’!—and always love hearing your accompanying thoughts. Thanks for your nod to me above : )
I’m going to keep an eye open for this piece to see what might happen after some marinating.
I have so enjoyed your recent works and writings Dotty! Always do 😉 Thing is I have pieces I can post. (Thump on my forehead)
Nice to be missed, thank you Dotty 🙂 I’ve said it before, you are a true inspiration 😉
Wait… I did notice you were “elsewhere” during a fortnight. Hey, hey! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Season, Sheila. (I already typed that comment, don’t know where it vanished)
It was here, the comment. Gremlins in the machines. That has happened to me on two different blogs. A very Merry Christmas to you Louise, and a Joyous New Year! Thanks for noticing 😉 LOL.
