Eucalyptus on my mind.
Eucalyptus trees have a minty, pine scent with a touch of honey. There are more than 600 eucalyptus species throughout the world. These trees hold a strong place in my childhood memories.
Meeting my oldest and dearest friend. Rainy nights, and foggy mornings. The crunch of fallen bark. Sticky leaves in my hand. If you have ever breathed in their fragrant scent, you are sure to never forget it.
Happy Thanksgiving Sheila! Lovely painting – like Dotty no eucalyptus or memory of such. Thankful to call you friend. Take care ox
Aww, thanks so much Janet 😉 Hope you day was a great one 🙂 Thankful for you as well 🙂 Enjoy 🙂
We have a lot to be thankful for this year … your new home, your Mingus view, and you. Thank you for the memories of walking in the suburbs of Sydney in the evening with the smell of Eucalyptus in the air.
Oh I bet that was lovely Sea! I so hope to visit that city! Would love to spend a summer and see the country from one end to the other. Yes, you are right, and I give thanks at least once a day. You can always think of something to be grateful for can’t you? Thankful for your friendship Sea, and for your glorious gifts of art that I enjoy each day 😉
Eucalyptus always stir up memories for me too. The long stretch of them on El Camino Real in California, the large one that seemed like a goddess in my driveway when I lived in Santa Rosa. In Southern Spain you can sometimes buy eucalyptus sap in jars the small village taverns. Your painting captured the wonderful fantasy of colors that occur in the bark and the strength of this great tree.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, dear Sheila! Grateful today for your presence and good heart!
xoxoxo
You honor me and this simple painting my friend. Thank you for that. 🙂 I think I mentioned before that I drove down Victoria street and took photos of almost every tree there. Each so different, majestic and powerful. Dozens of them. And I lived in Miramar Ranch for a couple of years, known for it’s abundance of eucalyptus.
So lovely to know we have something in common Laurelle 🙂 Thankful for your friendship as well 🙂
Love your painting and love eucalyptus!!! It reminds me of my childhood in California. Happy Thanksgiving, dear friend. May God bless you abundantly! <3
They were so exotic to me, when we moved from Colorado. Made an impression. Thank you kindly Karin 🙂
Such an interesting tree painting! Happy Thanksgiving Sheila
Thank you Val 🙂
Sheila, love where you used a pen (I think) to highlight patches of the bark, and love this post. I have no childhood memories of eucalyptus trees, strong or otherwise!
Yes, a Le Pen. I kept some hard edges, and softened others with water. I have never been to your neck of the woods. So lovely that we can share and learn from each other this way 🙂
And a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! We have lots of Eucalyptus trees here as well!
Thank you Carol 🙂 On of the things i mess from So. Cal. I took more photos of trees while I was back. Of course. LOL 🙂 Of some of the white trunk Eucalyptus. Just so pretty 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving, Sheila. Enjoy your day. Here, in France, no celebration but I just wan’t to tell you how I am thankful to be your friend. Hugs…
I am thankful for you as well Louise! Your light brightens my world 🙂 Shine on dear friend! 🙂
