September 2017 30 Paintings In 30 Days Review

I had fun with this month’s challenge. Had a rocky start with site crashes, comments going down, and then a road trip interruption. All of that seemed to make the month fly by. I never felt that third week are-we-there-yet dread kick in. Blessings in disguise. Seems to me the start of January’s challenge was rocky too. Maybe I should just expect rocky,

I botched Day 2. I was happy with it. Then the last step. Wreck. It was late, and I needed a replacement to post PDQ. And that is how the first abstract came about. Simple as that. I didn’t plan to do others, but the colors called me.

Most popular days by views: 8, 11, 6, 16, 30, 5, 20, 14, 13,  and 12. In that order. Only three of those are on my favorites list. What do I know?

Big thank you to Leslie Saeta for hosting yet another fantastic event! My heartfelt thanks to each of you who took the time to visit me here. Who follow my artistic journey. Our conversations mean the world to me. I am so grateful to have found this community, and I cherish every one of you! For your encouragement, your guidance, your inspiration,

Thank You!

Giveaway alert! I would love to send out 10 bookmarks. Random drawing from your comments. I am going to have a friend choose 10 numbers between 1 and 30. The names from those days will go into a bowl, and the recipients selected from there.

I am going to cut the bookmarks from these paintings:

Oh wow, I like how you numbered yours, and then did one of your favorites. That is really clever. Congratulations on completing this Challenge. I am already looking forward to January. I’ll see you in our blogs and posts – and we can cheer each other on in January! Take care and keep painting – your work is lovely.

Glad you like it Rebecca, I got the numbering idea from another artist. Awesome that you are already looking forward to the next one. I am glad you will be taking part 🙂 Happy creating to you as well, keep sharing your art with the world 🙂

I’m so sad the challenge is over! My husband isn’t. I’ll still paint a lot and try to follow more people now, including you! Talk with you in January, I’m definitely doing it and look forward to seeing everyone again. Take care!

LOL, I was dared on Instagram to keep it going and go for 90! Whew! I know many daily painters, but it seems daunting. I usually do stay more active between the September challenge and January. I will miss the conversations and daily doses of fabulous art though!
Well keep it up… LOL, who says it has to end? Paint away and post two or three times a week instead of every day. LOL 🙂 So awesome to have you follow me Sharon! I signed up for your blog again too. I thought I was following you, but it said welcome back instead of “you are already…” .
Happy creating Sharon! Chat with you soon 😉

Hey cousin! Awesome to hear from you 🙂 I planned on getting in touch, but knew it would have to wait until the end of the month. Thanks for stopping by, and thank you for you kind words. God bless! 🙂

Thank you Val. It will be added to my gallery 30 Paintings page. The slideshow is easy to do, and the collages are fast because I use the previous collage as a template in Photoshop. Thanks so much for following along 🙂 Happy creating to you, and teaching!!

You blow me away with your blogging expertise. Love the numbered collage, the favourites collage, the slideshow and the giveaway idea. You make it all so much fun.

Sadly I tried to comment on the bookmark images and it all went black, so not sure you got my comment. I said I love Mirage and asked what colors you used.

Then I clicked on the Society 6 – 25% off Link and it didn’t work. Could be my iPad which I just had to reset.

Thanks for letting me know Sea, links are fixed now. The bookmark images are just a gallery, I will share links to the image tomorrow, or you can use the search box and enter the day, “day 22”. So glad you enjoyed the post, it was fun to put together. I kept forgetting the giveaway, LOL. :O I used craft paints this round. I had a hard time finding the colors I wanted in watercolor and acrylics. The colors are here:
      Americana Natural Buff
      Apple Barrel Sunkissed Peach
      Craft Smart Turquoise
      Anita’s Terra Cotta
Anita’s Dark Plum mixed with Americana Cranberry Wine

Thanks Sheila. It should be that you can mix darker shades with Titanium white to get those yummy lighter saturated jewel tones, but it doesn’t seem to work that way. I like craft paints and I know some top selling artists that use them exclusively. No shame in it at all.

Thanks for that Sea. The shiraz is like a unicorn, impossible to find. They are either too red or too purple. I have found it in watercolor, I think it is the Inktense pencils. And in the $5.00 student watercolor set at Micheals. That set, is where I fell in love with the color actually, LOL 🙂

I know what you mean. You may be able to find it in Matisse by Derivan, made in Australia, they have a very creative mixologist. Pigment in USA tends to be heavily influenced by the auto industry but pigments in Australia tend to be influenced by the massive natural mineral industry. They don’t call it the Red center for nothing.

Beautiful collection, Sheila! It would be hard to pick a favorite, but it’s so interesting to see all your September paintings together. Your love for that gorgeous violet/eggplant-ish color is obvious! It is beautiful rich color, which you use in many values. And your style is so characterful and happy. Congrats and well done!
