Over 1000 Artists worldwide are taking part in Leslie Saeta’s 30 Paintings In 30 Days Challenge. This is her ninth biannual event. I missed the first one, but have participated in each since then. The only goal is to paint every day. Doesn’t have to be good, or even finished.
This was painted with a palette knife, I used a brush for the stems.

Gorgeous works at my challenge Pinterest board!
Each time I look at it I like it more!
LOL, great compliment indeed 🙂 Have fun today Sharon 😉
I agree with Laurie, your sunny personality shine through each of your works. This ones lovely. Not messy, and I like the spatter of dots!
I like the not so messy part too Sharon 😉 I can get great soft textures with watercolor, big splotches of paint. But with the acrylics I need more practice. Thanks so much for your kind words Sharon, you know that is what keeps me going 🙂
Wow! Look what I’ve missed. I had to take a break from the 30 in 30 but I’m glad you didn’t! These are wonderful, Sheila!!! Don’t be so hard on the palette knife progress…it’s not easy, but you’re doing way better than you think you are. I just love your personality and how it shines through in every painting. Thank you!
Look forward to seeing your portrait, when time allows you to finish Laurelle 🙂 Practice, practice, practice. But we will see if the knife holds my attention that long. LOL. So many things to I would like to learn 🙂 LOL. Thank you for your sweet compliment Laurelle. 🙂
Lovely textures!
Glad you like them Martine 🙂
Nice use of palette knife to get form on the flowers, Sheila, and I like the linear effect on the vase as a contrast to the flowers.
The texture sheets are fun to use Laurelle 😉 I found a different knife, made it easier to paint the flowers. 🙂 I made one perfect petal shape, LOL. So there is hope, with more practice… 😉
Very smooth for palette knife work and interesting colour choices. Doing Good Sheila!
Thank you Val 🙂 I wanted a cleaner look, but I think next time I will try to find a happy medium. Somewhere between today’s clean, and yesterday’s messy look. LOL
Fun knowing you used a painting knife here—I wouldn’t have guessed. Love the slant to the lines in the vase and the subtle variations in value in the background color. So awesome that you are a repeat participant par excellence in Leslie’s 30in30!
Thank you Dotty. I was unhappy with the mess in the previous painting, I wanted to see if I could create something a bit cleaner. The background had more contrast when the colors were wet, but I am still happy with the outcome. It is awesome that so many of the artists join in each year 🙂
I see you got a grip of the palette knife. When painting oils I hardly use a brush. Great flowers!
I think so, found a different knife and it made a big difference. I know you can great lines with a knife, but I didn’t think of that until after I had painted the flowers. It was easier to use a brush for the stems. Enjoy your creative time Carol 🙂
