This was my second attempt. I am happy with the result. Managed to loosen up. Also, I did not kill the light with too many layers. There are things I will do different the next time. Learned from this, so all is well.
The first painting was solid areas of flat color. My white pen gave out, so I switched to paint and a brush. Wasn’t liking it, so I stopped and set it aside. Today it does not look as bad to me, I plan on going back to finish that one.
L.Y.A. Postcard #2
I was late in posting card #1. I did not receive these back to back. This fun Zentangle art is from my good friend Kat van Rooyen. We have swapped for several years. Kat lives in Tazewell Virginia. In years past, she has shared her wonderful photos of the Appalachian Mountains.
Kat is a Certified Zentangle Teacher. Her classes are popular and she often gets requests to add more. She is inspiring. Health issues could have stopped her in her tracks. But she keeps on going!
Kat’s message on the back:
Encouraging your inner Artist to surface, polish and SHINE!
And this reminder:
It’s all possible one stroke at a time!
Thanks so much Kat for this awesome card. I love your work! My collection just keeps growing! It arrived in pristine condition! You can see more of Kat’s cool tangles at heartsuntangled.com. Her gorgeous photos are there as well. Be sure to visit!
Talented work from two beautiful artists… Love your cactus, Sheila (keeping my fingers crossed if LYA’s angel decides to send one to me) :)… Kat’s works are fabulous, if I tell you that I am diving into zen angled too… Need some diversion these days. Have a wonderful day, Spring just knocked at the door here; most welcomed!
Thanks so much Louise ? Zentangle is very relaxing, you will enjoy it. And I look forward to seeing your creations! ? I hope you receive one of my cards, but you are on my side swap list, just in case. Lol. Enjoy your wonderful Spring!
Looking forward to seeing your art, Sheila… As far as the LYA official run this year, am a bit, just a little bit, disappointed, the only person who received one of my cards, seems to be “closed to communication”… Well, any way this is it. May others will be more “open”. My zentangle stuff is doing pretty good, I need some relaxed moment these days, a good way to be on that road. Have a great day, Sheila. Take care, my friend.
Thank you Louise. I hate when the receivers do not get in touch. One year, I only found out about 2 of my cards. It is disappointing. Hang in there 🙂 Funny though, if you don’t want to communicate, why sign up? Glad the zen is working for you 🙂 Do you plan on sharing some with us? Hope you have a great day as well 🙂
We are on the same wavelength, Sheila. Communication is a two way road, well, it’s like that. I shared one of my “zen tan” work already on my FB page. Have nice days and a wonderful week end, Sheila.
On my way to bed, (2 am) but I will visit your FB page tomorrow and check it out. The very same to you my friend – have a super weekend, Enjoy!
For some reason that cactus makes me hungry. Perhaps it’s the luscious green. And how lucky are you to get that gorgeous Zentangle card.
Well, prickly pear is a delight for some. My friend makes her grandmother’s Nopales recipe often. LOL. I know what you mean though. We had a wonderful bright green salad with dinner tonight 🙂 Kat has blessed me with her tangles. Just as you did with your wonderful canvases!
Your little paintings are always so cheerful Sheila and the desert touch is nice for those of us still surrounded by snow. Your LYA postcard is so nice and it is great that they are all so different. Thanks for sharing.
The Mingus Blush photo I shared a few days ago, showed snow on the mountain. I don’t think I remembered to mention it though. We only had rain here. I am curious to know just how MUCH snow you have left Val. Those photos you shared were something else! Hope the melt has at least started for you. 🙂 Thanks for enjoying my paintings Val 🙂 I know it is warm out, I lost count of how many people are out for a walk!
I came up to my desk to do some lesson planning for a new student, but made the ‘mistake’ of checking my email first. I got totally lost in saguaro cacti and zentangles—wow! Love the light-filled happy-dance colors of your cactus painting, Sheila. They evoke feelings of timeless carefree innocence. Thanks, too, for the intro to Kat. Loved poking around her website. Those zentangles are so cool!
I thought you would enjoy Kat’s tangles. Your fun dribbles and dots and lines often make me think of tangle patterns. 🙂 Dotty I LOVE your description, thank you 🙂 So glad you enjoyed it. I had so much fun working on this. I think that is time management lesson #1… don’t check your email. 😉 (But I break it all the time too. LOL)
I’m so glad it went to you! I do have another postcard for a side swap if you’re still game. You said the nicest things! ✨Thank you so much✨ you have two already? I haven’t received even one ? I got worried my cards didn’t make it!
Sea Dean is waiting on her first one too Kat. I am sure they will arrive soon 🙂 I did think that was fast for the 2nd one to arrive. But maybe it was an accident, and I got two in one batch mailing, and won’t get one in the next batch. I am game. But I am not sending my cards out until the official swap is over. 🙂 Glad you saw the post Kat 🙂 They are waiting for approval on the FB page. LOL
