It’s LYA time again. I always look forward to Kat Sloma’s postcard exchange. This will be the seventh year I have taken part. You can find out more and see the cards I sent out in earlier swaps by clicking on the link in the sidebar. There are also links to Kat’s showcase videos if you need a jolt of artistic inspiration.
This year I took a regular manilla envelope added a layer of gesso, and then watercolor. A quick bit of fun. The envelope is sort of a gift for Kat. For all the hard work she puts in to the event. She posts some of them on her blog, so we can all see the fabulous artwork. I don’t remember who started it, but now it is a swap tradition. Postcards are ordered and on the way. Can’t wait to see them!
Love the envelope! Kat does such a wonderful job.
I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be participating this year in the lya.
Oh Juana, so sorry to hear that. I will send a card to you no matter. 🙂
Super little envelope. Although I don’t see what the envelope has to do with postcards, I know you always have fun with this exchange. – Have a great day Sheila.
I keep leaving out details Val. The envelope is a fun little extra for Kat. Sort of a gift for all the hard work she does. She posts a few of them on her blog, part of the fun leading up to the exchange. I will shahre links, so you can see them too 🙂
This is absolutely beautiful Sheila! Rich gorgeous colours and the textures you’ve created – love your watercolours!!
Thank you Janet. When I finished I was wondering if I had just made a huge mess. LOL But this morning I am happy with it 🙂 LOL
You should be happy with this one!! It is lovely!!!!
Thanks Janet 🙂 So glad you like it!
nice envelope. looking forward to seeing which Art you decided on having made.
I feel so behind Christine. But one of them looks like the envelope. I only did two this year. Hope the weather is being good to you up there 🙂
Wow, can’t believe it’s LYA time again. I’m going to follow the links and see what I think about possible participation. Just making the envelope is part of the fun, I can see. I used to have a ‘postal art’ business back in the day. Stay tuned.
Oh Dotty, that would be awesome if you sign up! Do make some extras… for side swaps. ( And please, please add my name to the list, LOL) Side swaps are a treat as well, some artists send them out during the official swap. I always wait until it is over, to make the swap last longer. if you sign up, you will see in the Facebook page, that people are already planning side swaps. 🙂
Sheila, I can’t seem to get the “reply” link to let me align responses to different comments here with the part of the discussion I want to address, so let me see if I can sort things out so they’ll be clear to you when you read them.
1. Thanks for your warm enthusiastic response to my thinking about LYA 2017. Still percolating : )
2. Thanks for reporting back about your own blog subscription snafus. Though your info doesn’t specifically resolve my own situation, your information WAS nonetheless helpful, and I appreciate your taking the time to gather the specs you did to share with me.
Dotty I am sorry it is not working for you. I checked the settings, and my comments can go 7 levels deep, I switched it to 9 just now. Still you should have been able to. I really think the gremlins might be running loose in cyber land. LOL
Just know you are always welcome to join… and your fabulous postcard art will be warmly greeted! It is a fun group 🙂
Oh and here is a new on for you. I have just recently stopped receiving emails from Lisa Daria, she is on blogger. I REALLY don’t like that this is happening. I will do more research on it as well.
1. When I mentioned a couple of days ago that I couldn’t seem to get the reply link to let me align my responses to the part of the discussion I wanted to address, it turned out that the ‘misalignment’ sorted itself out and landed in the correct place when PUBLISHED; it only appeared to be disconnected when I was DRAFTING.
2. Thanks again for the warm response to my considering joining the LYA swap; as it turns out, I’m taking a bye this time around. Wanted to let you know.
3. Have you been able to reactivate your Lisa Daria subscription?
4. At my end, 6 of 10 blogger subscriptions spontaneously began arriving again. At which point I realized the whole mystery was COMPLETELY beyond my computer savvy! I stopped trying to figure out and resolve the problem at its source; the aforementioned ones are working again on their own, and I’ve found alternate routes for receiving the others.
Dotty,
1. So glad, I figured it would, but you nver know. I have had that happen to me on other blogs. Anytime there is a problem, I would rather know about it than not. Thanks 🙂
2. LYA is always open to you and everyone. Thanks for letting me know Dotty. I know your art would be cherished 🙂 I will be sharing all of the links, so you can still see what all the fun is about 🙂
3.I just went to Lisa’s site, and entered my email. I got a message that acknowledged that I am already on the list, and gave me the option to update my profile. So I did that. I will let you know if I get her email tomorrow. 🙂
4. What???? So bizzare!! I am so happy for you that you are receiving them again. I remembered another one that I stopped getting. And it is a blogger blog. Yeah, I would never be able to figure it out myself. Chat with you soon Dotty 🙂
Good Morning Sheila… I was wondering what had happened to your blog and I just discovered that I wasn’t following you any more… What happened, I don’t have a clue. Anyway, all is well that ends well… Looking forward to a side swap once official LYA 2017 is over… Take care!
Good morning Louise 🙂 That has happened to me with several of my friends blogs. I stopped receiving them, and have signed up again and again, and I still don’t receive them in my email. I have no clue why. So nice to have you back though 🙂 Yup, I will save a card for you.My collection would not be complete with out a Louise!
So sweet of you, thanks alot dear Sheila…
You’re welcome my friend 🙂
Sheila, I am so glad you wrote the following: “That has happened to me with several of my friends blogs. I stopped receiving them, and have signed up again and again, and I still don’t receive them in my email. I have no clue why.”
I have been completely bedeviled by the sudden and ongoing cessation of about 10 blog feeds starting over MLK weekend in January (mid Challenge, for pete’s sake!). I have gone nuts trying to resolve the situation, to no avail.
Have talked with computer savvy friends and colleagues, have called verizon since that is the address at which I no longer receive feeds despite successful receipt up until mid January, and despite un- and re-subscribing. No one has answers, and verizon doesn’t think the problem lies with them (even though I have been successful when subscribing at gmail).
I HAVE determined that all the blogs in question (including MY OWN!!!) are at Blogger and all use Feedburner as their subscription widget. Regrettably, I can find no way to talk with anyone at either Blogger or Feedburner.
My question: would you happen to know if the blogs in question that you still don’t receive are also Blogger/Feedburner?
WOW Dotty, that is even worse than I thought. Let me check and I will let you know 🙂
The blogs I stopped receiving are WordPress. I somehow found my way to the subscription management page. Found out there were five blogs that I had not confirmed the subscription to. I confirmed them, and We will see if I start getting those blogs again. 🙂
Thanks for asking the question… I would never have thought to look otherwise! So Sorry this news does not help you at all ;/
