Sometimes less is more. And sometimes more is what it takes. This is another of the abstracts I worked on a couple of weeks ago. I started playing, to see if I could create shapes with the palette knife. What the heck right?
I need the practice if I am ever going to get better. And I can always paint over it, again. You can see how this started. There are two slides. I liked it with just the slim ground line. Then I didn’t. I added more indigo, and then some white and dusty rose to soften the area. Set it aside.
Came back to it, and decided I wanted more color in the sky area. I really like that mix of peachy pink, you might remember from earlier challenges.
I am really happy with how the trunks turned out. Pure luck that!
I am on the road to San Diego today. Posts and art are ready to go, but I will not be visiting blogs or pinning to the board for a week. I will catch up when I return. I am going to miss seeing the artworks!
Have fun everyone, I know you can do it! Thanks so much for following my progress, and for your generous comments. God Bless!

Sheila, your art is striking . I love your style and technique. Beautiful.
Thank you Lana 🙂
Safe journeys Sheila! And, yes, I agree and think the trunks in the palm trees turned out great!
Thank you Liinda, and thank you 🙂
Aren’t you having fun! This is super Sheila. I really like the dark ground line and the off-set trees make such an interesting composition. Have a safe trip!
So glad you like it Val 🙂 Thanks, I did. I only hit rain a few time. I was blessed with dry roads most of the way. major storms here, and it is as cold as back home. But should be warm in a couple of days. I hope. LOL
Love it – agree with all the other observations! The way you added the ‘darks’ in the foreground works so well – how can you not love neutrals and values – they add so much to a painting and you used them to great effect. Will miss you Sheila. Have a safe trip and enjoy your time.
WOW, thanks Janet 🙂
Safe travels. Colors here remind me of the western desert. Liked it before and also now with the additional trees. Yep good news is we can always overpaint!!
Thank you Nelvia 🙂 I often forget that part, but we can always start over. Have fun painting today!
Have a great week Sheila!
Thank you Martine – happy creating to you 🙂
Sheila, POW! I REALLY like Palms! That indigo topsoil filtering down into the ground—way cool! The angle of the horizon line—yup! The simple goemetry of the palms—effective! The marbled sky—textured deliciously!
Have a grand time in San Diego. I’ll miss you.
Aww, thanks Dotty. Thanks for the assessment, I like all of that as well 🙂 I am going to miss you, and your inspirational art each day!! I am going to check in as much as I can 🙂 Call it an addiction. LOL Enjoy!
You are really coming out of your BOX! Love this! The textures and colors ARE MARVELOUS! You caught the feel of the palm trees!!! Kudos!!!
Thanks Carol 🙂 This was a fun one! Have fun today my friend 🙂
