I was really happy with how this canvas turned out. I had the idea to add more color, and the Ocotillo came to mind.  I used Derwent Inktense watercolor pencil (shiraz), and I like how the watercolor highlights the canvas texture. Keep it simple Sheila.

I LOVE this. Don’t know how I missed it, but now I see a few since that I have a few things to say about. But this design is so cool- I’m not familiar with this plant , but it can’t be any prettier than how you depicted it!

Thank you Laurie. I saw it for the first time last year. Most often they just look like weeds, but when there is water they flower and are very pretty. Have fun today 🙂

The last few canvases you have done with this colour palette reminds me of an arid environment – or at least what I think it would look like and I really like them. The inktense pencil you used for the Ocotillo is wonderful. Love the soft and sharp lines you made. I would love to see a series of desert plants. Happy painting today Sheila.

It could be seaweed! LOL. I have drawn seaweed before, for a surface design. Still working on that one. Have fun today Sharon 🙂

Such a delight to see where your new investigations are taking you Sheila. A series of desert plants would be awesome! This piece strikes me as a stepping stone—magnificent in its own right as a captured moment of being in place, and exciting as a way station to the unknown. I think it’s leading you into some fun.
