Only two more days in Leslie Saeta’s 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. I feel like I am just getting started. I have paintings in my head that want to come out! I think the trip, and break in painting schedule has me feeling like it shouldn’t be over yet. How ’bout you? Are you ready for October?

Yesterday’s piece had a nice wonky feel to it. Today’s is a little too clean and… staged. The drawing took forever, and I am still not happy with the composition. I spent more time painting this than on yesterday’s, and I think the lack of spontaneity shows.  It was fun though!

It was another beautiful Mingus Mountain day. Love the light on the front range.

I love this image – doesn’t feel staged to me at all. Love the colour, arrangement and how those purple ‘needles’ lead you through the painting.

I was finally able to get your post so I went back and looked at the ones I missed. You sure are having fun with those mountains of yours and the sunflower was definitely bright. I agree about yesterday’s cactus piece – much freer than this although you have done some nice blending of colours here. I hope this means i will be able to get your next posts – I miss seeing them.

Thank you Val, for taking the time. It is a self hosted site, until I can afford to pay for hosting. And the server is in the boonies of Montana, so when they have bad weather, the site can go down. But hopefully soon, I will be able to move the site.If it happens again, I would be happy to send you the image, so you don;t have to wait 🙂 LOL Have a great day tomorrow!

To be fair, though, this is a very tricky composition to get right – the “simple” ones always are! It might not be “wonky” like yesterday’s, but it has a very stable feel to it. I don’t know how big these cactus plants are supposed to be, but they look as big as buildings, which is kinda neat!

Re: the Mingus Mountains – Is that your view every day? I’m so envious!

Some of them do get very large Emma. They plants can get to five feet tall, and over 10 feet wide. But that is the whole plant, not the paddles. I guess maybe a stable cactus is better than a wonky one hey? LOL. Yes, that is the view out my studio window. Minus the cement wall across the street. LOL.

I will Corinne, LOL. Still, the daily chats with participants will quiet down. Looking forward to you new projects!

Sheila, to me this painting has a delightful graphic cartoon energy to it—my eye instantly personifies the jewels into little characters marching up their respective hills. Love it!

I love that Dotty! In Mexico they call those “tuna”, little marching tunas!! Thanks for sharing your imaginative interpretation with me 🙂
