Flower paintings were at the ready. But after four days without a brush in my hand, I had to wet some paper. This is inspired by freeway art in Scottsdale Arizona. The ride home from the airport turned into a three-hour tour, errands and traffic. Along the way I took some photos of extremely large cacti, and saw even larger cacti stamped into cement. To cap it all off, dinner was a Philly cheese steak at the Anthem outlets. Mmmm!
It actually was a great day all around.
When I arrived at the airport, I walked away from the Southwest gates, looking for a restroom. Then, because of the crowds, I hightailed it back to Southwest. Just as I was loading my bags on the security conveyor belt, I heard my name. It was my Father. He is retired and lives in Mexico. I knew he was going to be in San Diego, but it sounded like we were going to miss each other. He wasn’t sure which airline I was on, and I truly believe the good Lord had a hand in the timing and our paths crossing.
If I had gone straight to my gate, he would not have seen me. And for some reason my phone was not ringing, I did not even know he was at the airport. But it worked out, and we were able to visit for a few minutes!
Divine intervention! Wishing you a blessed week!

It ‘s amazing how things all seem to come together – and without a lot of fussing. These are great images – love your colours and especially the shapes!
I am so happy with how this turned out. Pure fun to do. Yes, I need that constant reminder… stop fussing! LOL
How wonderful you could meet up with your father… small world!!! Love your Sabras!!! Blue, turquoise, green with purple fruit!!!! Wonderful and cheerful!!!
Thanks so much Carol 🙂 Yes, such a blessing that was! I had so much fun painting these, and I was done in under 20 minutes. It was after 10 pm, and I still had to write the post. Kept me from overworking, that is for sure!
Love divine interventions! Thanks for sharing. There is a cactus growing where I walk most every morning. I love seeing the fruits growing. I tried painting them a few years back. Now when I walk by I’m going to be thinking of you. 🙂 Love your cactus paintings!
Awww, thank you for that Karin 🙂 So happy you have a joyful place to walk 🙂
Nice Sheila! I love that you are branching out to reflect your new surroundings. Lovely!
Thank you Connie 🙂 Your work is so often reflective of the area, your love for the land shines through 🙂
Sheila…Glad you were able to see you dad! Love the painting…it’s very sweet. I too have taken pics along the Arizona freeway…somewhere I have a collection of freeway pics with all kinds of cement stamping…they’re interesting to look at…especially while crawling through heavy traffic.
Thank you Cindy, such a terrific surprise! I have been known to take freeway photos. Even the plain structures make for interesting abstracts 🙂 You’re right, it sure makes getting stuck at a long light more bearable, LOL, 🙂
Oh, this one is just delightful!!!
So nice to hear Donna 🙂
These cacti are so upbeat and uncomplicated—they are going to be my touchstone for how I plan to live my day : )
So sweet that you got to connect serendipitously with your father at the airport!
It was a miracle Dotty 🙂 Had that in my head, just large simple shapes, and the colors. I do hope you have a simply upbeat day my friend 🙂
What a fun painting. Wish I could see some cacti like that somewhere.
Such luck you got to see your father! You have a nice week too!
It helped that San Diego is a smaller airport as well. 🙂 I love desert plants, they are so invincible! Well, I think you will be seeing them here often Corinne, LOL.
