I have a feeling I have linked to this video before. But the song came to mind while I worked on this, so I am sharing it again. Hope it will add a skip to your step!

Thought about getting away from the linear layout. Not sure if I like it. But it doesn’t help that I goofed the sky. Ended up too dark. Doesn’t add any light between the stems.

Funny, but I seem to be posting a lot of pieces that I am not completely happy with. Well, there are still some to come. I will have a count at the end, but there are at least five. That is almost a quarter of the work for the month.

Yet, I am posting them. And I am not feeling, in any way, like they are failures. Not sure if that is because I had to work ahead. (Wanted to.) Or if it is that I am becoming more comfortable talking about the learning process. Thinking about the process, instead of being focused on the end result only.

I had fun while painting this, and that counts!

Well here it is the day before I leave on my trip. And I STILL need to paint my gift for the baby shower. Sometimes I work well under pressure. Let’s hope this is one of them!

Your florals are lovely – the colours are rich and and I do like your composition. I think that sometimes that struggle leads to a ‘break through’ in our art. Just my thoughts…. I am looking forward to seeing all your florals hung together!

Thank you Martine, I will 🙂 I am so enjoying your flowers and self portraits… everything! Each day is such a surprise 🙂
I think I am feeling more confident than in past challenges. Hmm. Quiet revelation 😉

Hey, Sheila, you know I’m right with you in posting whatever’s on the canvas. It’s all self-expression, and there’s no accounting for anyone’s taste (De gustibus non disputandam est; thank you, Mr. Moore, from 10th grade Latin) anyway, including our own! Out it goes into the world. Love your discussions of your behind-the-scenes process.

I have quite a few failed paintings… some unfinished… Honestly, I wonder why I put myself under this pressure, but I’ve learned so much from each time I’ve done the 30 days, and most of all it is so nice to touch base with people like you. You are such a treasure!!! Love this painting, too.

AWW, Thank you for that Karin 🙂 I just responded to your post for today. You amaze me with all you accomplish during the challenge! You works are larger and so detailed, hard to believe you can finish some of them in a day! Hang in there, and enjoy the conversations. Remember you can post WIP’s too 🙂 I look forward to seeing the Eucalyptus when it is finished 🙂

Listening now ..very nice new for me… but love country music….. don’t be so hard on yourself… yes it’s the process and learning and developing habits…. and besides it sunny and cheerful!!!! I love how the colors bleed together!!!

That music is what my grandmother listened too. My father passed it on to me. Glad you enjoyed it Carol. I find it endearing, that so much of that genre of music is so joyful. A way to cope with the harsh reality they were living. ( Depression, no work, tough times). So glad you like the painting. It does have redeeming qualities 🙂 Enjoy your sketching today Carol 🙂

I’ve heard people say that one of the great takeaways from doing the 30 in 30 challenge (or daily painting in general) is focusing more on the process and the learning curve rather than the end result. I think I have about the same ratio of “failed” paintings as you do, and, like you, I can’t really consider them failures (well, except for that one where I used that awful smelling oil medium – THAT was a disaster). Anyways, for what it’s worth, I like the “freshness” of this one! 😉

Thanks so much Emma! You made me laugh this morning, thank you for that! I am loving your work! Even the red head you were not happy with. She was great. Hope you have fun today and I can’t wait to see the next one! Thanks for visiting 🙂

Hi Sheila and Emma, I’m with Emma! Daily creating is not so much about getting a good result every day, it’s about making it a regular practice, learning and growing. And in the end you end up with some really wonderful results, lots of OK stuff and some fails (or experiments, or play stuff?). You know I painted a hundred small paintings – there’s lots of experimental stuff – and then after a few days there’s something I myself consider the best and then another 10 days of so-so stuff. It’s all in the game. Keep at it!

You are absolutely right Corinne! And you have the experience to prove it. Each time you post your experiments, is an inspiration. Even in the ones that may not be frame worthy, I see parts that I really like. A color mix, a shape, a thought. You are so good about sharing your progression. How one piece leads to another. And the habit is the key. This challenge really helps to cement the habit. I am happy to realize that I am not stressing over each piece like I did when I first started the challenges. Learning taking place! Happy creating to you Corinne 🙂

I was thinking of that Corinne, doing some lifting. So glad you like the yellow, I can’t seem to get away from it, LOL 🙂

I love the sunny layout of your blog and talking about your daily paintings. It is nice to know that someone else struggles and experiments on these 30 paintings.

Yes it is Carol. Nice to know we are not the only one struggling. Easy to forget when you are working alone. Thanks for following me in the challenge, it’s great hearing from you. I am so enjoying your work each day!
