Every time I see cactus flowers or prickly pears, I think “crown of thorns”. And sometimes I even hear Sandra Bullock saying it, like she did in Hope Floats. (Oh my gosh, that movie was made in 1998, I can’t believe it is that old!)

The luscious purple/magenta bulbs look like jewels to me. I am sure they do to the rabbits and birds too! Juicy fruit filled jewels.

I don’t know why, and I was unhappy with the fact that these came out dusty looking. Like there is a layer of white gouache. I only used watercolor, so it is a mystery. After a while, the next day, I decided it was not a bad thing. They do in fact look dusty or washed out, in life.

I spent the better part of the weekend cleaning and organizing. I felt like I was working in the middle of a pig pen. I was only using a small part of my desk, and the rest was covered in a mess of supplies. And you know how it goes, the mess always gets worse before it gets better! I am still at the “worse” stage.  But there is always tomorrow!

Happy Monday everyone!

I like the composition and colours on this one, you are right, the whitish coat is just the way they look sometimes! I am off to organize the studio today which is pure chaos after the challenge!

LOL, I just now finished. 9 pm Monday night. I am pooped! But I feel better, got rid of a lot of “junk”. I’ll head your way, if I can stay in one of those cool campers! LOL

Beautiful colors!! Don’t change this one, whatever you do. And I LOVE all of your recent work, but especially this one, day 18, and #16 along with you Haiku entry. My son was just published for a short one, too! Great job. Keep it up (more than I can say for myself-hahah)

Wow Thanks Laurie. I was kinda thinking I wouldn’t post this one unless I fell behind. I really like how the bloom developed on the middle bulb. Pure accident that. Congrats to your son – how cool is that! Thanks for being a rooter on-er Laurie 🙂

Another beauty – the colours are beautiful – can feel the ‘needles’! Just the right amount of everything. Glad you waited and in the end didn’t change a thing. Hear you about the studio space – is my ‘chore’ today. Looking forward to your next painting.

I stayed up long enough to get my desk cleared at least. Felt so much better. Still have work, but the piles are neatly stacked. LOL. So glad you like it Janet! I was looking at my reference photo, and the needles should really be much longer, but I think that would take away from it. Leaving it as is 🙂 Wish you well with your chore!

Now you have me thinking I could add a long, but tiny ladder, maybe some ropes for good measure. LOL. Have fun today, I know you will Dotty 🙂
