Design project complete. I am still deciding on colors. The design came together quickly. I divided the “canvas” into quads. (If you look closely you might see the pink lines.) I started by placing the largest bloom, then the medium, then filled holes with the smallest buds.

I used five different blooms, and rotated copies of them for variation.

I played with some mock-ups, the colors may change. They are not showing well here. One has large yellow blooms, another has yellow and green with the white. On top you see it with a few small yellow flowers. I like my first thought best. Just white on blue. (middle photo.)

Funny to me, this simple design that came together easily. I worked on so many complicated designs, some didn’t work, and others I just did not like in the end.

I had to travel that long and winding road to find this. Isn’t that always the way?

Have an awesome weekend!

Love the subtlety of the added colors…fun to see how the design changes and moves when parts of it get color changes.

Sheila, I’m fascinated by this process. So glad you are taking us along for part of the journey. I continue to love the navy and white. I wore a really cool prom dress my senior year in h.s. (way exceeding the prom date, but that’s a different story) with a graphic navy floral pattern on white background—somewhat the negative image of your design.

Dotty, one day you will have to share that photo with me, sounds gorgeous. Does that mean it was a hand me down dress, or that you wore it for many years after? Either way, sounds wonderful 🙂

Finding a photo of that dress might take a little doing, but it would be worth the search. I think you’d like the fabric/print. My mom sewed it for me from fabric I selected. It was not what I would think of as a typical prom dress (then—1968, or now). When I said it far exceeded my date, I meant in quality and wow factor, not longevity, but indeed the dress also had greater longevity than my date.

LOL, Love it Dotty, thanks for elaborating! My prom dress was also sewn by my mom, and not what I would think of as a prom dress. Ah memories. I ended up marrying my date BTW. (Now divorced)

Well done Sheila! I think I like the white and blue best too but the additional colour works as well . I would have used a pink instead of a yellow but that is a personal choice – we all know how much you like yellow – lol

ha ha ha, that is true Val 🙂 I do seem to like yellow these days. That is what is so nice abut simple designs like this – I can quickly change it to suit a clients preference 🙂
