Happy New Year y’all! Welcome to another 30 in 30 challenge! I have looked forward to this since the end of September. O.K., I think it took me a month to recover from that challenge enough to think about doing it all over again!
But I have looked forward to January 2016 since December of 2015! DOWNTON! So while I might start to look forward to the end of the painting challenge at some point, I will also be simultaneously hoping that January goes on forever!
I have several ideas for a theme. Had. Have had. I can’t decide, and I am not really sure if I will have theme this time. I did not have a chance to prep in advance. But I did start painting a few days ago. I tried a few landscapes, as well as a few abstracts. Nothing very post worthy, so I thought it might be a good idea to stick with a subject I know.
I painted most of this with my fingers. Started with abstract yellow shapes, then green. Roughed in a pot. Spread colors around in the background. I used a brush to shape the pot. Also to lay down the purple base in the foreground, and the dark centers of the blooms. I added a last layer of a creamy white to the background and defined shapes with a pen.
Whew! Number one is done!

Very pretty, Sheila! I love painting with my fingers, too…makes things go so much more quickly. (-: Happy 30 days and Happy New Year!
You are a pro at finger painting Jill! All the best to you in 2016!
Such a happy painting to welcome the new year! Best Wishes for your 30 paintings. I’ll have fun looking this time as I have no time to participate myself.

Love this, Sheila! A great start… I don’t know if I will be painting this time around. I’m working on a large commissioned painting and taking a trip at the end of the month. I sure will miss it, but I might be able to join up for a couple of weeks in between. I definitely will be watching what everyone else does. 🙂
Awww, I am so happy for you and your exciting start to 2016 Karin! But your work will definitely be missed! I do hope you can join but if not, I know you will keep us posted as you can 🙂
