I started two 6 x 6 acrylic pieces today. Worked one, and then the other just to the hideous stage. Promptly decided to take a break. Not to give up, just to let the paint dry. Told myself I would come back to them with fresh eyes.
Well I think it helped with this one. I have this gnawing feeling that it is unfinished. But that could be due to the fact that I have been “outlining” things.
This was painted with my fingers, except of course for the splatter. I am very happy with the textured background. It is much warmer in person. The “skin” tone is not showing well here.
While I was debating about defining the flowers, I thought to try adding splatter. First the green, then turquoise. Hmmm. Maybe some watered down white. O.K. A little better.
Still, it was not quite… there. I splattered some thinned indigo, and that was it. The minute the color hit the paper I knew. It brought everything together, and hinted at some depth.
Let me know what you think. Should I add some definition?

Five more to go!
Thanks Wendy 🙂 Have fun painting today 🙂
Nice texture… I also paint with rags,fingers,wipes
That’s why your work is so interesting Carol 🙂
I have bits of plastic, shelf liner…stuff. And I always forget to use them. Maybe I need a little basket to set them out in front of me…out of sight out of mind, LOL.
Love that indigo! To me, this looks perfect. Your colors are so great!
Thank you Laurie. I will take your word for it (didn’t last time, LOL)and leave it as is 🙂 Have fun today!
Sheila, fun to see such a different style with your flowers today! Finger painting! What are the details of how you go about splattering?
So glad you like it Dotty 🙂 I just tap on the brush with my finger. You can use an old toothbrush and flick the paint with your finger. For this one, I used a small brush and had to water down the acrylics. I masked off the background and vase with scraps of paper.
