There might be one or two more of these. Paintings on this theme. I know I said I have enough. We’ll see what transpires.
I started this with my palette in mind. I actually had tried to use it during Leslies January Challenge. I still have two of those boards prepped and waiting to be finished. I found the color inspiration on Pinterest. A beautiful journal page by Roben-Marie Smith. I just love the messy, splotchy, warm feel of it.
I do wish my lettering skills were better. I have never been known for my penmanship. I remember once in grade school, must have been 2nd or third grade, a teacher commented on how bad it was. She was visiting our class, and I had just signed my name at the top of the paper. She was standing over me, and in a snooty voice, she said, “How can you even read who this is?” And my teacher said, ” Oh that is easy, that’s Sheila!”
I remember thinking, if I had all that space at the top of the page, I was going to use it. Paper is made to be used, right? To this day, I can never sign my name the same way twice. Just doesn’t happen.
I will never be a typographer and calligraphy is out of the question, even with a cheater, chiseled pen. I so admire those with the talent!
It would have helped, if I had a decent pen. All of my pens are dying… I need a pen sale fast! But even with my crookedy-second-grader writing, I like how this turned out.
Hope you will visit the gallery on Leslie’s blog today!
Thanks for the shout out and so glad you found inspiration with one of my journal pages. Your piece is lovely! I had to laugh about your penmanship story as my dad hounded me constantly when I was younger to work on my writing skills and I hated it. Here I am today wishing I had listened to him…not the first time, of course. Have a lovely day!
Thanks for stopping by Roben, and sharing your story with me 🙂 My mother practiced her skills, and has a very fancy, ladylike style. I can forge her signature, but I can not duplicate her style 🙂
Gorgeous colour pallet Sheila! AND a great painting with depth of feeling 🙂
Thank You Sylvie. This is one of my favorites from the challenge 🙂
I can tell you are having fun with this series. I wish I was more adventurous. Love the color palette too. I made a quilt with blues, tans and brown.
OOOuuu that quilt sounds pretty Pam!
I like your writing, Sheila, I think it looks great. Very fun!
Thank You Karin. I did have fun 🙂
I really like this painting a lot. It may be my favorite of the heart series. I don’t understand your reservations regarding your penmanship; to me it looks just fine.
So glad you like it Jim. Well, maybe that snooty teacher was wrong after all. ha ha ha
I LOVE this series Sheila. The type fits the design here. 😀
Cool 🙂 Thank you Sandy!
