This is one of the postcards I will be submitting to the RAG, Memory: International Mail Art Exhibition and Swap. Hopefully they will be in the mail by the end of the day.

The theme is memory, and in the interest of time, I have chosen to do flowers given in memoriam. I want bold, graphic pieces so they will stand out when they are up on the wall. (And when I look at the online photos I will be able to find them easily.) Silly, but there you go.

I love this plant. The Calla Lily is my favorite flower, and this of course is it’s kissing cousin. I can draw a simplified Calla in one stroke, but I have yet to attempt to paint one. White flowers are difficult I think, but I would very much like to master them.

I had the veins on this much softer, and while they looked great on paper, they did not scan well at all, so I had to darken them. This was a fun one to do. I am also going to do a version with softer washes, maybe I will show you with tomorrow’s piece of art. Speaking of art – there is a ton of it at Leslie’s site. I have two days of viewing to catch up on, and my tail is wagging in excitement! Like the dog cravin’ bacon – Art, ART, ART!

This sort of fits the theme of memorial. Just a fun little accident. I was planning to add to this and make something of it. But I noticed right away, the fun little lady and her great big heart. I gave this to my Father and his wife Teresita, along with two of my pears.

Enjoy your day everyone! Fall arrived in Riverside county today! WOOOO WHOOO! Of course this might be the only day of it for a while, we will be in the 90’s this weekend. But it is a crisp, dark morning, and it is a welcome bit of heaven!

Okay, Sheila! I am clapping my hands over here with excitement! This “peace lily” is simply Stunning. I love the dark background because it really makes the lily pop !!! And the colors you chose for the background bring the lily forward as if one could simply pick it up! Great job here.

Now you got me really laughing!!! I loved “like a dog cravin’ bacon….art, art. art !!!!” I had to wipe my eyes on that one cuz I was laughing so hard!!

I can see the lady too! I bet your dad and his wife loved it! I always get excited when figures appear like this…it doesn’t happen too often, but when it does it is always fun!

Speaking of fun… it has been extremely fun being ‘art buddies’ during this 30 in 30 !! I can’t thank you enough for all your kind words of encouragement as well as support. Your words always bring a smile to my face. It is so special having you cheer me on!! Thank you very, very much!!

Say, I have been meaning to ask you… have you ever lived in Michigan? Washington? Because from your pic posted here at your blog, I could swear I have known you!!

Okay, better run….have tons of fun with Day #27!!

Joan you made my day!Thank you! Really, it has been killing me these last two busy days that I have not had a chance to look at Leslie’s site, or comment at all.
I am glad you see her. I love it too when things like that happen. If I tried to paint an angel, she would be like a 5 year old’s drawing. What I really loved is that a fleck of paint had formed a heart. Cosmic message there!

I have never lived in either of those states. Just Colorado and California. I did drive thru Washington once. And I have been wanting to visit again ever since! Your comment made me smile. Such an honor to be one of those people you fell you have known before! I love when that happens. And honestly, when I saw your photo on Etsy, you looked like an old friend to me too. From high school. I have really enjoyed our conversations and getting to know you as well Joan. I am sure we will continue to keep in touch, and I am so thankful and and consider myself blessed with your friendship!

Well, it is after nine and I have yet to start painting. I hope your creative day went well!

      Enjoy my friend!
